Yes/no, is this axes' pole hardened for hammering? if not i don't see how they can justify charging $200 for half of an outdoor axe.

As far as i know all GFB axes and hatches are hardened to a rockwwell 57-59 hardness...i drive tent stakes and nails with it but i do not pound on the pole like you woud a maul...its not designed for that...i will say this axe is lightweight and extremely effective depending on your axemanship skill level. This IS NOT for the novice axeman because of the lack of weight...you better have good efficient aim and force to complete your tasks. It is extremely sharp and well made but it does take some getting used to...all their axes are hand crafted and of the utmost quality! You wont find a better axe/hatchet. I own 7 GFB axes ranging from their splitting maul to their mini hatchet and love them all! I wouldnt go any other way.

How come i can get this just about everwhere else for $180 and under but from this place its nearly $250?

Drake off road tools used to be a ditributor of gransfors bruk i believe...it is an authentic GB tool and made with just as much quality and attention to detail as all their products!

Our stock is THE Gransfors Bruk. 
It seems 'Drake Off Road Tools' was once one of the sellers offering it on Amazon (possibly they created this listing first quite a few years ago). They seem to have entered their brand name as a manufacturer - either in error or for self-promotion purposes. It is incorrect and against Amazon rules as every listing becomes a property of Amazon and is supposed to serve ALL sellers who supply a given product (with the same UPC code). Unfortunately, changing the description of the existing listing is often times an uphill struggle with Amazon. We requested a change a number of times but only managed to get Amazon change the title so far. We have no idea why they didn't change the bullet points and the description.. probably lack of attention. The bottom line - you can forget about 'Drake Off Road Tools', if you buy from our stock you are buying a genuine Gransfors. Hope this helps. Cary | Sunny Vale
