I added a KVM too my desktop and then connected the receiver side into one of the PC inputs, meaning I can move the transmit side around to wherever I need it and wire it into the PC, then send the data across a big coil of Cat5 cable. It works really well as a mobile fix station for test setups. Works great for me, though I do note that theres some occasional mouse jitter, but for what I need its rarely an issue. I like that I can just leave the power connected too the desktop end and don't need another plug at the remote end.
