Yeah I'm not rebuilding an engine with it, but it is of sufficient thickness to not be junk and the spring/adjustment mechanism seem to be pretty solidly build. I purchased to make O.D. measurements of thingss like pipes etc. where accuracy of .001" is not needed, I read the result with a tape measure or use it to compare pieces.
