Now You Can Watch Much More Than the Sky
If you are at all interested in the weather (who isn't?) and you own or are considering a Davis Instruments Weather Station, this product is for you. With the included cable, it easily plugged into the back of my Vantage Pro2 weather station console and connected to my computer. The included software allows data logging including: current conditions, charts, graphs, plots and more so I am able to store, view, analyze, export and print weather data collected by my weather station. The instruction are thorough and set-up is easy. The on-screen "Walkthrough" steps you through the configuration process. On-line help is also available. Parameters for the charts, graphs and plots are easily set, simple to understand, and viewing them is quite interesting and fun. I've had the WeatherLink for 2-years and it has performed flawlessly. All in all, this product and software is well-designed, easy to install, and a "must have" for Davis Weather Station owners.

WeatherLink work good, everyone people wrote rate star 1 said WeatherLink do not work usb on the computer and do not buy it.. STOP! ✋ if first time new vantage pro console do NOT turn on, memory insall first than plug in and battery back in or after you use vantage pro console turn off unplug and battery remove than memory install than plug in and battery back in will work WeatherLink on the computer better to understand.

A bit of a project but it works well
This review will cover the Davis Vantage Vue in addition to the logger and software... It really requires all of these components to operate. Following this sentence, the exact review appears under the Vantage Vue product: I have the complete unit and overall, I am very pleased. I made my purchase in stages over a month and a half. First, I bought the Vantage Vue package. Once I received it, I had to figure out how to install the outside unit (all of the electronics work well out of the box). Because this system requires some periodic maintenance, I was not about to install it on the roof... I purchased the tripod, stake kit, two polls (sold by Amazon), and installed it in my backyard. The whole shooting match is about 15 feet off the ground. If you are handy, you can go to Lowes or Home Depot and purchase PVC piping a lot cheaper than what I purchased. It is winter here in North Carolina, and I may have to move it when the trees fill out because the solar panel must face south to get sunlight without significant obstruction. I have a lot of trees on my property, and it needs to be in an open area, accessible and away from potential falling branches. In addition, I have to think about Hurricanes in this area. It should be taken down during hurricane force winds; so I am keeping it accessible. Other than that, it is pretty solid. I recently purchased the weatherlink Software so that I could connect it to my computer. The package includes the data logger and the software. Davis will not decouple this package; honestly their software is not really usable. As many folks have stated, this is definitely early 90s technology in that the console must connect to the computer. It has a proprietary port on the console side that connects USB to the computer. That process will get the Davis weatherlink software working and provides a graphical user interface that enables capture of all of the data coming from the station. Now, what it doesn't do is to provide the ability to become an official weather station and log your data to WeatherUnderground or NOAA (you can log to the Davis site which of course has a fee and is not widely used). If you only want this for home use, the console is fine and the weatherlink software and logger is unnecessary. So, what I did was to test weather underground software and another package called cumulus.. both of which are free. I did not like the weather underground software because it takes too much control over your computer. I went for the cumulus. Once I got it installed and working (it requires usb to serial emulation which you accomplish through the Davis weatherlink software), everything was perfect and I disabled the Davis software. I am an official weather station on weather underground, and I can view weather data from my location with my smart phone or computer free of charge from anywhere. In summary, depending on how you want to get this thing working, it is a bit of a journey. My cost to get everything running was just under $600.00 (consisting largely of the Vantage vue & console plus the data logger and software---which is basically a throw away, and the hardware), and it required 1 1/2 months to get it set up. This is definitely hobby work and not for someone who wants to get it working after delivery and be done with it. By the way, I am really enjoying it. I gave it 4 starts because of the setup and because you don't really know what you need until you receive the initial package.

I'f you've updated to Windows 10, read this review!
While needed to connect your weather station to your computer/internet I think this should be included in the "expensive" Davis line of weather stations. I purchased this when I purchased my weather station three years ago... All of a sudden, it stopped working. I thought, well, all things fail... so I eliminated all obvious reason, like loose connection, system needing a reboot.... I even ordered new one, thinking this unit was bad.... After installing the new one ,and the same "dead" results, I started checking other things. As instructed, you should us the "USB" as the connection method. With all Windows, this was exactly correct. Well, with the latest Windows Update, November 13, all of a sudden my weather station stopped reporting to my computer and to Weather Underground. I knew that I could not have two bad units all of a sudden!!!! So, I started testing all of the options for data connections and finally found that Windows 10 had changed my data from a USB to a com port... 5 to be exact on my system!!! So, before you do as I did and buy something you didn't need, try a different communication method. I hope this saves at least someone some money.

Finally, plenty of data
This little gadget changes my Davis Vantage Pro console into a real source of retrievable data that can be reviewed, printed, analyzed and enjoyed from my PC. That's a significant step up from console only weather stations. Startup was simple and clean. The software went in without a ny snags and the data came across without any errors that I could see. I'm into the 3rd week of data collection and all is well. The strip chart feature is quite good, and the console display easy to use and understand. I'm good here.

Fonctionne parfaitement avec mon console Vantage Vue EU, RAS ! Le logiciel fournie s'installe facilement sur le PC et rapidement, avec en plus, la toute dernière mise à jour (6.0.4).

Well, have to say it wasn’t cheap, but it really is an amazing piece of equipment. The information accrued is diverse. Broad spectrum of localised info that can be shared globally. Interesting to see and compare results from nearby weather stations. All in all a good investment!

There was no warning about problems getting this to work with Windows 7, but I've tried everything I could think of without success. The instructions advise to contact Davis tech support, which I did by phone and email,...they have not responded. I've started the return procedure, but if Davis tech service gets back to me with a fix real soon I'll revise this review. 18-05-17 Davis tech support got back to me with a quick easy fix...all is good and I'm a happy little nerd. Windows 7 requires a simple little deviation in the setup, but works just fine when you know what to do.
