Illuminating Excellence - Hygger Aquarium Programmable LED Light
The Hygger Aquarium Programmable LED Light for 48~55in Long Full Spectrum Plant Fish Tank Light has been nothing short of a revelation for my aquarium. It checks all the boxes for what I wanted in a lighting system: full spectrum, sleek design, minimal heat emission, and set-and-forget convenience. This product deserves a 5-star rating for its remarkable impact on my aquatic plants and aquarium maintenance routine. One of the standout features of this LED light is its full-spectrum illumination. It provides a balanced and natural light that has profoundly affected the health and growth of my aquatic plants. The plants thrive under this light, and their vibrant colors and increased growth are a testament to their effectiveness. This light is designed with the needs of aquatic plants in mind. The slim and streamlined design of the light is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. It doesn't overwhelm the look of my aquarium and blends seamlessly with the overall setup. The low-profile design is a bonus, allowing the light to fit perfectly on my tank without bulky attachments. Heat management is often concerned with aquarium lighting, but the Hygger LED light boasts a low heat signature. This is beneficial for the health of my aquatic life and ensures that the aquarium temperature remains stable without any undesirable fluctuations. One of the most significant advantages of this light is its programmable timer. Once set, I can practically forget about adjusting the lighting schedule. It offers hands-off convenience, which is a lifesaver for those with busy schedules. Excellent light with excellent value
I purchased this light for a Waterbox Marine X 110.4 tank. The tank is running freshwater fish and this light provides ample light. I know there are lights out there that can cost $500 to $1000. I'm sure those lights are good but honestly they are not necessary. The money they charge in my humble opinion is excessive and a waste. I design LED circuits and I know what they should cost. Again just my 2 cents. This light does it all except Bluetooth control. This is minor since the schedule manages sun rise and sun set cycles. It even has multi color control. If you want to change the color or the brightness then yes you have get up off your butt and touch the light. It does get warm, but not uncomfortably warm when I put my hand on it. If you read the instructions it indicates below 120 is fine. The instructions for the light could be better but take your time read them closely and you will get it. If you want Alexa or Siri to do it for you, go buy the $1000 lights. These are pets there is supposed to be a personal touch. Any other issue I could manage to come up with is offset by the cost. If you want a light that does everything and requires no thinking then you will have to buy those very expensive lights. I have chosen not to so I can buy more fish. Remember they are fish, not clubbers at a latest singles hotspot. So imitating day night cycle is the goal. This light has been up and running since June 2021 and there have been zero issues. By the way I have a Hygger pump and temperature control too. All working fine. I did not use the stands that came with this light. See this review, had to make a part to hold it but easy enough to do. https://www.amazon.com/review/R1Z58LZOB5Q1JW/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv Feb 2025 Update, it failed, not a bad light but lasted just under 4 years.

DIY mode instructions are lacking, here is what you need to know
We wanted to have multiple on / off periods throughout the day, so DIY mode is the obvious choice for us. Getting this set up was rather frustrating. But first, the summary: This light will always be fully off when first plugged in or power is restored. After power on, you must set the time before doing anything useful, but program settings are retained. So you can't use this on an external timer. 24 hour mode is not too complicated to set up and use. DIY mode is a bit more trouble to set up if done right, but very troublesome if you make the mistakes documented below. Manually turning on and off the light takes a lot of button mashing. After using manual mode and restoring to automatic mode, the light setting appears to be reversed from what it should be; just wait 15 minutes for it to "fade-in" to the correct on/off state. Here is what the instructions don't say: 1. Standard mode will override DIY mode, turn standard mode off (both Day-L and Moon to off) before enabling DIY mode. If DIY mode is already on, you must turn DIY mode off first before you can turn off standard mode, then you can turn DIY mode back on. 2. If you manually turn the light on, or off, or on then off, many times the light will not turn on automatically (or off as the case may be) when the next DIY phase starts. If you adjust the time (you can even set it back to the same time), when the time setting is saved it will reset the light setting to the current DIY phase (after a 15 minute fade-in, see below). Changing the DIY settings has the same effect as changing the clock settings. 3. When lights turn on and off in DIY mode, it does so gradually over a 15 minute period. Nothing wrong with this, just not mentioned in the manual. 4. Manually turning the lights on and off takes several button presses, even though I only ever want 100% full on or full off. Here are my DIY mode instructions. The individual mode instructions are no different from what is in the manual; they are just in the right sequence here to set things up for DIY mode. Buttons: Set, Up, Down, Bulb Turn off standard mode first. You only have to do this once, or after a factory reset. First turn off DIY mode if it is already enabled: long press Set and Bulb until "ON" or "OFF" appears. If "ON", press "Up" and it will change to "OFF". You can then button mash "Set" through all the DIY settings, or just wait for it to time out. Now the display will show "Day-L ON Moon ON". This is the standard mode setting. If both say "OFF", standard mode is already off, you can turn DIY mode back on and ignore this section. To turn off standard mode: press "Set", Day-L will flash. Long press "Set", then use "Up" to change "ON" to "OFF". Long press "Set" again, and "Up" to change the Moon setting to "OFF". If the display says "Day-L OFF Moon OFF", standard mode is turned off. Set up DIY mode: long press "Set" and "Bulb" simultaneously until "OFF" (or ON) appears. Use "Up" to change to "ON" (unless it was already ON). Sometimes I have to repeat this sequence in order to get ON/OFF to appear, or it would disappear as soon as I press "Up". Just try again. Once set to ON, use "Set" to cycle through the settings for each phase (L1, L2, ...). First setting for each phase is the light intensity, then start time for phase (for L1 only, as for the other phases the start time is the previous phase end time), and then end time. If intensity is set to 0, then the lights will be off for that phase. L7 and L8 are blue light, all the others are white. To manually turn the light on, press "Bulb", then press "Up" several times (it always starts at 10% for me, and I can't even tell what color it is), then press "Bulb" a zillion times to get the color you want. I want white, and it comes on as red. To re-enable DIY mode, set the time (long press "Set" until hour blinks, then press "Set" 3 more times). If the light should currently be on for DIY mode, it will appear to turn off (actually it is on the lowest light brightness) and then gradually turn to the programmed brightness over the next 15 minutes. Or if the light should be off, it will immediately go to full brightness, then dim to off over the next 15 minutes. So you think it is doing opposite what it should, but 15 minutes later you see it actually did the right thing. I am happy with the amount of light this delivers, about 70% of the brightness of the well know best in class light at one third the cost. But the DIY mode and manual programming are a pain. Personally I would prefer a simpler light used with an external timer, but you may like the automatic settings this light offers. Edited to update instructions for resuming DIY mode.

Plants LOVE this light. Easy to setup. Bright white..
I bought this strip in January 2021 for a dart frog vivarium. Setting it up was breeze as all that is needed is plug it in set your local time and that's it. Some how I inadvertently switched the "moonlight" from nice blue to unpleasant red. The instructions did not come across as clear as I would have liked. Even online videos were no help. Finally I was able to get it back to the original blue. The light will not default to factory settings by unplugging it from the power which I feel there should be some way to enable that feature by the manufacturer. The strip is a pretty good light. It has a bright spectrum that the plants really thrive by. In the morning the "daylight" will come on at 6:30am as a soft dim light gradually getting brighter for full white spectrum for daylight. At 6:30pm it fades off then immediately segway into the blue. At 11:30pm the blue will dim until the light turns off. There are other colors to choose from a light green, a yellow, a light blue, and more. Somehow I managed to get the light to cycle all of the colors with an automatic feature. I think the color-cycle feature would look nice for a terrerium setting but with animals probably not. I've attach several photos to demonstrate the brightness. The blue does not photograph well as it looks like a big blue mess.

Great Light! Awesome Price!
I bought this light for a new 110g aquarium -- At first I was looking for Fluval, as I have a few of those on my other aquariums, when I noticed the Hygger Full Spectrum Light at a super price -- after much deliberation, I decided to give the Hygger light a try. The product arrived in good time. The light is well made, and the brackets on the side are adjustable. I have had this light up for a couple of months now, and I am completely happy with this light. My plants are doing great and the fish are beautiful under it. I love the timer on it. The timer has been set for months now and works like a charm. I would definitely recommend this light to anyone that is looking for a great light at an awesome price.

Works Great Until It Doesn't
I've been using this light on my aquarium for over 9 months now and it worked great... until it didn't. About 2 weeks ago the light started strobing when it was supposed to be transitioning for dawn and dusk. I've tried everything I can think of to fix the issue but have not had any luck. Next step is to contact the manufacturer since it is still under the 1 year warranty period. Overall, there were several things I liked about the light and a few things I didn't. The Pros: 1. Automatic switch from day to night lighting with a transition period. Anyone who has an aquarium knows how much of a pain it is to remember to turn the lights on and off at the same time every day, and with traditional lights there is not a transition. The lights are either on or off. With this light the built in timer does all of that for you. It's kind of liberating... 2. Adjustable brightness for your daytime and night time lights. You can set the brightness of your day and night lights to what works best for you and your fish. 3. Water resistant casing. It seems like every time I clean my aquarium water gets splashed on the light fixture. It's important to know your investment isn't going to fry when that happens. The Cons: 1. Setting the timer and light brightness can be confusing. I read through the instructions, but even then, had to play around a little bit to get to all the functions I wanted to adjust for my aquarium. 2. The position of the light button is inconvenient at best. Every time I did anything anywhere near that button the lights changed and I had to scroll through all of the light colors to get back to where it was supposed to be. 3. Even with my timer set, the daytime lights would go off about an hour before it was supposed to and the fish would be left in the dark for longer until the night light came on. I could never figure out what was happening so I just ended up adjusting my night light to come on earlier. 4. Lights started flashing within the first 9 months of use. This one wasn't a problem until recently and I don't know what caused it to start happening. This may be a unique problem to me, but it was severe enough that I removed the light from my aquarium and went to my back up lights. I've done a lot of troubleshooting on my own and couldn't figure out what was going on and how to fix it or what caused it. Since it is still supposedly under warranty I am going to contact the manufacturer next to see what they can do to help me. **UPDATE** I was able to contact Hygger customer service who let me know the flashing was due to a failed power supply. Because the light was still under warranty, they shipped me a new power supply free of charge and the light is working the way it is supposed to again. Hopefully this new power supply lasts more than 8 months.

Great light
This light made a difference the 1st day I used it with my planted 55g African cichlid tank. I had 2 sets of Led lights and only the top parts of my plants were benefiting and it was causing algae growth on the leaves. This light is bright and the brightness of all the colors be adjusted. With this light once set to desire time to turn on and off. I already see a big difference with that plants where even the lower part of the plants are sprouting upwards. And the plants that are on the bottom of the tank extends upward also. I guess it’s just the right plant spectrum for a planted tank. Also I have it set where it’s on when I get home from work. Not on the auto factory timer. The good part of this light is that it can auto dim like natural light. I do use co2 injection and fertilizer. Am happy with this light and would purchase again in the future.

Not so good. Spend more for better - this one is bottom of the barrel
Not user friendly / not enough of what is truly important- on off at different day parts and different intensity either does not exist or is so hard to program it’s not worth it - 3 thumbs down

Power interruption
This is good powerful aquarium light for plant growth. However, when there is a power interruption all setting go back to default/ factory settings and you need to reprogram the whole thing again. A simple battery backup within the system would have solved this issue but unfortunately…. This a drawback on the system.
