Its not blindingly white but it isn't yellow. I rinsed it inside of my aquarium since I got both the same day and its 2 and a half-ish gallons. So it wasn't a big deal to sit it in the bath tub for a good rinse. It settled right to the bottom with no issues. It barely even created any clouds before I was done with the first rinse. It looks really great and I would buy it again if I ever got another tank. I don't like using gravel and have been using Estes Marine sand for over a decade - and love it. Although this 'sand' needs to be soaked (48 hrs should do) before placing in your aquarium, once it sits, it's beautiful and easy to keep clean. This sand does not hold pockets of noxious gases like playground sand or filter sand can.
