Tested the voltage coming out of the power supply and it was fine. Tried a different power supply on the laptop just to be sure, still didn't work. Checked battery health in the BIOS, and it was good. Only logical conclusion was that the charging port went bad. Ordered this, had it 2 days later. This part has all of the same markings, sticker, and part number as the OEM Dell port. Props to Dell for making this an easy replacement. I've had to solder in charging ports before... Here's what I did: Removed all the screws on the back cover of the laptop (if you have an optical drive, remove all visible screws on the back cover first, then pull out the optical drive - there are two very small screws underneath it that can only be seen once removed, and you can't remove the back cover until you take them out) Popped off the back cover, being careful not to drop/lose any of the tiny screws Identified the charging port. The cable was being obscured by the hinge for the screen. Removed the screws in the hinge, flipped it out of the way. Removed one screw to free the charging port. Unplugged the charging port cable from the board (no release tab or anything, it just slides out). Had to finagle the wire under the antenna for the wireless card and around the guides. Put the new one back in the same manner. Before I did anything else, I plugged the charger into the laptop before I put it all back together. Voilà! The LED lit up and it was charging. Nice. Replaced the rear cover, optical drive, and screws in the same order in which they came out. Easy peasy. Took maybe 10 minutes start to finish. Hopefully this one lasts. Review: Saved me from having to buy a new laptop - Needed to replace this charging port in my Dell laptop and it worked great! The fit was perfect and it was easy to install and replace.
