Because my smallish 14.5 lb. dog fit at the end of measurements for XS and the start for S, I asked the vendor which size they suggested, before purchasing, and that was a Small. It arrived quickly and is overall a marvelous vest...well made, sturdy, easy to adjust. But, as I suspected, it is too bulky on my dog, even adjusted as small as it goes - and then some, needing to shorten the neck Velcro beyond the max (see photo) - which is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating. He is wearing it correctly, but even with the neck adjustment at the smallest limit, he would pee all over the tummy belt. It is closer than the photo depicts. There is more then plenty of length behind his front legs to where the strap hits his belly, so I will reorder a size smaller (XS) and hope that even at the maximum of sizing allowed, it will fit much more comfortably than the Small. After six years and continued training she's suddenly decided it's fun to take her vest off. I don't mind this in 75% of situations, it's the other 25% that make me want to beat my head on a wall. This vest is escape proof. It's also comfortable, durable, easy to clean, and attractive. She seems to like it, she hasn't even attempted to take it off, which is a big plus.It also works beautifully for pulling my chair putting the weight on her shoulders and chest where it should be. The extra plastic loops on the side are handy for hanging her tags and such. I appreciate the steel D-ring whereas so many companies are switching to plastic.
