It is made in China. **Q: Can it break easily?** A: Well...that depends. The tang that is in the handle, starts out at 3/8 in. And tapers to 1/4 in. At the pommel. The tool isn't ment for heavy impact like fully swinging and hard chopping on a log, not ment for axe type work. It will bend where the tang meets the wide lower part of the blade at the top of the handle. The metal of the blade is not brittle, it will bend if you abuse it. It will hold an edge pretty well but metal is not as hard as an axe type metal. This hook blade is best suited for dry Hard branches no bigger than an inch, soft green pithy wood 2 inches diameter. Stuff that doesn't require too many whacks to cut through. The flat blade is best suited for splitting kindling or heavier chopping. To answer your question, NO, it can't break easily if you use it with respect and care. Takes a bit of experimentation to learn which blade to use when, but it has helped me quickly clear brush and small saplings with relative ease.FYI: use the "hook" for vines, brambles, thicker weeds, etc.Use the "axe" for thicker saplings and branches that you can get a clear cut through. It acts more like a thick knife than a hatchet, and it will surprise you how easily it cuts through saplings, especially with a diagonal strike. ### ⭐⭐⭐ WARNING: Design flaw - wear gloves when using. *by C***Z on September 28, 2019* Heavy rain in CA this past year resulting in scores of fallen oak trees and branches at our place. We use this tool to remove small twigs and sprouts before cutting the larger stuff for firewood with a chain saw. There is no guard between the handle and blade to prevent the users hand from slipping forward and being cut by the sharp blade.
