I bench bled the master cylinder, on the recommendation of a parts store guy, when buying a bleeding kit and the hose assembly that goes between this and the master cylinder. I highly recommend bench bleeding, especially if doing this on your own. Also recommended buying the hose assembly and bleeding kit at the same time...you'll need it. The old hose/tube ends were seized at both ends and I had to twist them off, to remove the master and slave assemblies. I am glad that I didn't buy the pre-bled master/slave set that comes with assembled with the hose assembly, because unless you drop the clutch and/or engine assembly, I don't think you could get the hose routed without taking them apart.
