Utilize by attaching a rope or chain to the eyebolt and go fishing for metal objects in tanks, barrels, reservoirs, waterways, or hard to reach places. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: are the sides of the magnet magnetic? like the red sides?**
A: Yes, all of the red areas are magnetic.   The small black pieces on the bottom are protective covers of the magnets that are inside the red enclosure.

**Q: could i put a rope on it throw it out far into the lake and drag it across the bottom to find old cool things?**
A: I have! Obviously it can get hung up. Don't skimp on the line used to secure it. Recommend a high load bearing braided synthetic rope 5/16 in diameter.

**Q: would this work on spent brass from a 9mm??**
A: Magnets attract metals containing iron.  Brass is composed primarily of copper and zinc.  Unless your 9mm rounds have some steel content, using a magnet for clean-up would not be your best option.  Thanks for asking!  Master Magnetics Inc  888.293.9190  magnetsource.com

**Q: In the product details this item's dimensions are stated as, 10 x 8 x 7 but in the heading description of this item it says the magnet is 5" x 2" x 1**
A: Not quite sure why this matters but the actual dimensions of mine are 5' x 2' x 1.5".  This magnet is strong enough to lift an outboard motor! (Not quite, but you'll definitely know where it is.)

I have been looking for magnets to use for magnet fishing both around the house and in lakes and rivers. The ones that I have bought previously were very powerful rare earth magnets, but they were quite small so the surface area able to attract a magnetic object was also quite small. I purchased this one knowing that it had a larger surface area on which to attract objects. I tested the magnet's strength on a tractor implement that has probably 3/8" inch plate steel, which has become my go to testing location for new magnets. While the magnet is quite strong, it seems as though it is more than 20 pounds weaker than a 170 pound magnet I have. This is all by feel, as I have not tested them with a scale. Either way, it is a very nice, and very strong magnet. Make sure you explain to anyone who you let hold it that if they get a body part between the magnet and metal, an injury will surely occur. I was confused by the black objects in the picture, I didn't know if they were the actual magnets that were attached to another piece of metal housing, but they are actually a magnet cover or buffer. They are plastic pieces with a little bit of metal in them just to protect both the magnet and the user. I thought it was a very nice touch to have those included. I look forward to using this magnet for fishing for dropped hardware around the farm, as well as in bodies of water. Thanks for reading.
