Beautifully written and illustrated. There are some stories that are missing but the major ones are there. This is one of the first children's Bilbles I have seen that doesn't cover up the bad, the ugly and sometimes scary parts of the Bible (which I believe is important lessons in life).I really enjoy reading this to the Godchildren and they love the stories and illustrations. Great for younger ages up to 7.

My six kids have loved this children's bible. The illustrations are superb. In reply to the review above who complained about the violence, well yes there is some violence depicted --because there is violence in the Bible!-- but far from alarming my kids it was riveting (especially for my son who does not care for overly sentimental christian books) and a great way to introduce the themes of death, martyrdom, sacrifice, and human cruelty. Anyway, this is the third copy I order for family and friends' baptism parties. It's the best book to take to mass for the kids to look at because again, the pictures are so rich and they captivate their attention.

This is a solid Bible for Catholic children. The massacre of infants is a horrible story, agreed. But the full context of Biblical history needs to be told for children - and adults - to come closer to understanding the remarkable story of God's love, and just how significant Jesus is in our history. If you don't feel this story is suited for your child, you can simply skip it and read the stories of Jesus with his friends. Aside from the difficult nature of some stories contained here, the illustrations are nicely done, colorful, and attractive to children.
