I will say my first impression was quite surprised. They do sound great for the application I am using them for. The bass is nice but not too boomy, and the highs are not so ear shattering loud. I am not an audiophile at all, but I can appreciate good audio products and for the price I paid, these exceeded my expectations. I think these would work well for small spaces that needs decent monitor speakers, or even for my application to listen to records, or other media devices. I have not encountered any "hiss" from them but I am also not sitting right in front of them. When I listen to anything I am sitting in a chair probably 6 or 7 feet away relaxing. By the way, I am still friends with that person. But a lot depends on what equipment you’d like to hook up. Do you have an interface, are you just using a laptop, and what speakers are you planning to connect to it. The subwoofer has a crossover and depending on what you like to connect to it you will need the cables to make those connections. **Q: Do i need to turn it off after used everytime** A: No **Q: Can I connect two outputs (rca&1/4) to run at the same time?** A: There is an input for both RCA and 1/4" speaker plugs, so yes you could connect both at the same time. **Q: Hi getting white noise from my speakers I have the mackie cr-3 studio monitors. Didnt have this with previous sub or without a sub. Help?** A: I use good quality shielded, balanced TRS cables between a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface, a Mackie CR8S sub, and Mackie CR4-X monitors and have zero hiss. In case you aren't familiar, balanced TRS may look like stereo 1/4", but you still need to use one for each channel. I've had very little luck with RCA connections, so I recommend shielded TRS cables.
