It works. Thank you a million times, girafus! My biggest concern was the size of the cat collar component. My cat was not going to be subjected to an enormous lump hanging around his neck. I love him. I couldn't do that to him. When I opened the box for my new Girafus, I was so happy and relieved. The girafus collar component is very small. even smaller than it looks in the photos. You don't need a cellphone at all for this or any other complicated bs. It was easy to set up,too. very easy. When you use it, it will give you an occasional false reading, but if you reasonably follow the brightest, signal, and take time to turn around to see which way to get the strongest signal, you'll find your pet. It has taken me rigtht to Bunny-cat every time. I love it. It works when he's outside and I'm inside. It has no problem seeing through trees etc. If a tornado comes, or any emergency, I don't have to imagine the frantic, panicked search under a very short time limit to find my cat, which was one of my worst nightmares. I'm so glad I took a chance and bought thie girafus instead of any of the others. Understanding how to use it just from reading about it is pretty hard, but once it's in your hand , it is simple and even fun. The Girafus comes with a little box you hold in your hand that lights up when you get close to your cat, and can sound al alarm, too, if you choose. The hand held part needs two aaa batteries, the cat collar part needs two button batteries. There's a little black plastic box you put your button rechargeable batterys in to recharge them - for the cat collar part. They also give you some other little goodies in the box the unit comes in, like a silicone cover to keep the cat component dry. I lost a cat once. After four tear-filled days of searching night and day, I got him back. To think of going through that again with my most beloved cat is too scary. Thank you, girafus

First off, I want to say thank you to the company for their great customer service. That's why I gave it 2 stars. The problem is not with their company. It's the rechargeable battery that is the problem. I really wanted this product to work! My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat and I got the tracker so that I could find him if he didn't make it home in time. The problem is that the batteries don't last as long as they say and before I know it, it's dead and ruined. They recommend changing the battery at 10%. They say the battery will be completely dead if not charged within 10 days. But they don't say how long to expect the batteries to last in the tracker. So, before I knew it, the batteries were completely dead. I've only been able to charge them once and now they won't charge at all. It's very difficult to change the batteries. There are 2 tiny screws that must be taken out in order to charge them. They do provide you with a tiny screwdriver to remove them. The screws are difficult to see unless you have very good eyes or use magnification. Once the screws are out, it's easy to open the tracker up and change the battery. Then you have to slide the pieces together again, which is not so easy. THEN, you have to put the screws back in. If the cover is not lined up perfectly the screws won't go back in. Once you have your weak battery out, then you have to put it in the charger. I had difficulty opening up the charging unit. They do provide good directions on how to do it. And if your light is solid red, then the battery is charging. But mine only blinked red and then went out. Does that mean the battery is unchargeable? They don't address that. The whole process of changing the batteries is time consuming and not easy. I love the idea of rechargeable batteries but they need to engineer a way of charging the batteries without having to take them out. Germans are known for their excellent engineering. I've seen how rechargeable batteries work in hearing aids. There are contact points on the outside of the case and you slip the whole unit into the charger. If they could figure out how to make charging easier, this would be a great product. So now my kit will get put in the junk drawer where it will probably sit until I toss it. I am very disappointed!

Let me preface this by saying that this item is a great bargain and well worth the money! But theres a few things you should know. I initially bought the 2 pack of this in June and then liked how well it was working so I asked about getting extra tags from the seller. It looks like to get extra tags you have to program them to your remote and they come from the factory which comes with shipping costs etc. It sounded kinda complicated so I bought the 4 pack and kept the 2pk as backups in case my cats lose these. So if you have 4 cats, just do yourself a favor and buy the 4 pck first. Pros: Works really well when the battery is charged up. Its a basic tracker so it leads you in the direction your cat is in. But you have to trust the tracker and follow it and remember that you are following a cat. So in other words, dont stick to main roads, your cat is going to be anywhere and everywhere and if you have cats you probably know what i mean lol You can touch the number that the tracker corresponds to once and the bars will light up telling you whether you are closer or farther away. Green means your going in the right direction. You can press and hold the number button for the cat your tracking and a quick beep will sound which just confirms that you are going the right direction. Not too loud but loud enough that you know if your cat is within 30 ft of you. Con: The method that is suggested with the packaging is a velcro type thing and a silicone case. This will NOT protect the device from water and if your cat is indoor/outdoor it will probably get wet. The battery immediately stops working if it gets damp so its essentially useless. I would HIGHLY recommend the manufacturers come up with a hard plastic case with a carabiners or velcro attachment to it. Right now i am trying to come up with ways to waterproof it. So far I have tried: saran wrap, zip loc bags, and 2 by 4inch 4 mil bead bags. So far the bead bags are working but I have yet to test it out in the rainy season as its not that time of year yet. I have to tape the device once its in this bag to the collar (using electrical tape). This seems to be the best way to keep it from getting wet and also keep it secure to the collar. Another con: the two halves of the device are held together by screws. These keep it closed and the battery in place. But it would be easier if the sides just snapped in place versus having to pull out the screw driver every time you want to replace the battery. The battery lasts a little less than two weeks. I replaced a fully charged battery in one device on August 23rd and it was dead on Sept 4th. This is a long enough time that i feel its worth the maintenance for my four babies for peace of mind. But you have to stay on top of it otherwise its pretty useless in helping you find your cats. You know that the battery is dead when the bars don't light up. If the batteries charged it should blink a couple of times for it to catch the signal of the device and then at least one bar will light up if you arent too far away. The Charger: Works well. Buy yourself another pack of rechargeable 3052 batteries and swap them out so you always have extra ones on hand. Then when it comes time to switch out you can easily replace them without having to wait a day for it to charge. Whatever you do DONT close the two halves of the charger. This will be a pain to get back open. You can easily see the charging lights with it open. If you unplug the device and plug it back in the lights should flash red once and go out if they are fully charged. They will stay red or green if charging and go out to black when fully charged. Overall, if you are willing to do the maintenance of replacing the battery every two weeks and waterproofing/taping onto collar then this is a good bet for you! The charge lasts a lot longer than i've seen other ones last and the tracker leads in the right direction. I have used this to track my cat to the neighbor house he likes to visit. This was also useful when my other cat got into a neighborhood fight with another stray. She came home without her collar and i pulled out this tracker and tracked her collar out of the culdesac and over a house, 4 houses away. It was under a bush next to a neighbors front door and with the tracking bars, the beeping, and the flashing red of the device I was able to find it easily. So it is also saving me money on lost collars too! This is a great device, wayyyy cheaper than a gps tracking collar because you dont have to pay a subscription feet. This easily fits onto their collar. its not too big, and its perfect for giving you a direction to go in when looking for your cat. I have had a couple cats go missing and this gives me peace of mind. If they fix the kinks with water proofing the cover and attaching it to the collar then I would definitely buy those cases or the upgraded version.

When working, it is an excellent tracker. I find it is easier to use the audio tones than just the lights. I live in a hilly terrain and the range is good for at least 150-200 feet. We use it on a large cat and it is so light he didn't notice it at all. The batteries lasted about 3-4 months on the collar device which was fine. Our problem began when his collar came off and the tracker couldn't find the device (the cat came home collar-less). We bought a replacement device for his collar but that one never worked effectively. The handheld device (very cheaply made) also seemed to be acting up. For a cat, this is the lightest and most economical unit out there so I recommend it and am buying a new one. But the durability isn't the best.

If you have a sneaky little dog like mine that's really good at hide and seek (And sometimes isn't even in the house!) this is a great way to keep track of your pet (dog or cat). She wears a cat collar with Beau's Bells (Also purchased on Amazon) on it so my family has two ways of keeping track of her now. Thankfully she hasn't managed to sneak out of the house again, but this "Cat Tracker" so far has reduced a game of "hide and seek" from 10 minutes and over to less than 5 minutes. To bring up some slight negatives but not enough to take away a star, it's a little expensive but compared to other means of tracking your small pet (assuming they're an indoor pet), it's the least expensive option I've seen with the bonus of being simple to use and effective. The fact you have to change and charge the rechargeable battery (LIR2032H) that goes inside of the tracker tag every 5 days (the instructions say if the battery is 100% drained, it becomes unchargeable), is very annoying and some people may even forget to do this critical step. However, for me, I just put a reminder on my calendar so I don't forget and plan on purchasing more of the batteries so I always have a charged battery for my pet's tracker tag (You can buy them on Amazon). I can't comment on its durability yet since it hasn't even been a week since I got it. The only nitpick I have is that the screws that come with it are really TINY (There is some assembly required.). I wished it came with a tiny bag to hold them (like a really small sandwich bag or something) because they are definitely small enough to get lost themselves. To fix this issue myself, I just used the smallest snack bag I had to hold them. Overall, (just to never have to play my dog's games again) WORTH IT.

Strongly encourage reading the entire instructions to ensure proper understanding and expectations of how this device works to get the most success. It helps to rotate the remote full circle a few times in both directions on high ground. I then walk in a circle about 20 feet wide which seems to give me a general direction to start walking. I continue to rotate the remote from left to right to observe the strongest signal. I leave the alarm switch on to hear the beeping get faster and higher pitch as I’m watching the lights grow stronger. I’ve tracked my cat from at least 500-800 ft thus far. It gets me 5-20 feet to the cat (as intended) so I start looking within that perimeter, at that point I turn off the remote beeping and keep an eye on the light and look for the cat. You can push the collar alarm but it’s really too faint unless you’re a few feet away to hear, good if you’re in tall weeds or bushes. It’s never intended to take you directly and immediately straight to your pet, their is a bit of wandering and experimenting to get the hang of it. I live in a rural heavily wooded area and can find my cat at dusk now if he hasn’t already returned home for the night, away from predators. I also intend to use it when there are storms moving it to get him inside. Super happy with product. Bought two tags in case he loses one. I did put some black electrical tape around the device rubber casing and collar to better secure to collar. LONG TERM 4 MONTH UPDATE: changing rating from 5 to 2 stars. Units started going into deep sleep for no reason. Instructions say take out battery and put back in. This resets it for only a cycle, when you track it only works for about one minute then permanently deep sleeps again, rendering the device useless. Tried fresh batteries, no go. I gave it 2 stars because it did work well for 4 months, always found my cat even upwards of 600 ft away, before deep sleep mode issues, obviously there is a flaw in the system. My advice is don’t waste your money like me ($90+) on this product and search for a more reliable solution.

We searched far and wide for a good pet tracker since our kitty likes to roam outside a few times a day and the Apple AirTag was largely unreliable. Our kitty came home one day without her collar and we still can't locate the AirTag - it's just offline, seemingly forever, lost in the void. So, we got this to try it out and although it doesn't have a fancy UI or live map, it's reliable and has been awesome so far! Our kitty stays close to home and usually stays within visible range, but if she's in a neighbor's backyard or basement we'll get the base unit out and can always find her quickly, or at least know she's close by. We only let her out supervised and put her collar on when she requests to go out. She never goes past about 4-5 houses, and we know her usual hang out spots, so it's perfect for us. The tag is incredibly lightweight and sits on her collar without making the collar too tight or heavy. The battery lasts for about 1.5 weeks (without continuous use). We got the two pack so we keep one battery charged as a backup, and have a spare tag in case she loses her collar again. The tag itself emits a beep if you want to use sound to find the exact location once you're close - we don't use this while she's wearing it but it's a nice feature, just in case. And no subscription fees are always a plus. I hope Girafus can continue to develop this product and make it better!

We have 1 outdoor cat who likes to stay out too late past bed time. There are occasionally predators who come out at night on our property, so we sleep much better if we know she's safe inside. Calling for her never works, she will completely IGNORE us and stand stock still so we can't hear her bell jingling. The locator makes it so easy to track her down every night. She's always somewhere around the yard, but checking each bush with a flashlight was driving us crazy. The locator has already saved us a ton of sleepless nights and hours apon hours of searching in the yard. The "directional" light is not too great at picking up the actual direction. But if you focus on the red lights it works like a dream. When the last light turns on and the beeps change pitch you know you're within 5 feet of your cat. The small size doesn't seem to bother them at all, and it slips right on any standard collar. The batteries last about 3-4 days. They can be a little annoying to change, but if you buy multiple trackers it's pretty easy to keep them charged and just switch them out. 5/5 would buy again

Funciona muy bien, el alcance de más de 500 mts, supongo que es en espacios abiertos, por qué cuando se atraviesan casas o muros, no alcanza el rastreador. La pila tiene buena duración, no la he cargado y lleva como 1 semana, en la caja dice que dura 30 días. El gato no siente el rastreador, es muy pequeño. Solo es un poco difícil entenderle a las instrucciones pero por lo demás funciona genial, el sonido que hace es muy molesto, y debería tener un volumen. Pero cumple con su cometido, es radiotransmisor no gps

I'm generally quite happy with this product. I do have a few things to recommend. 1: There is an instructional video available on YouTube. Search for "Girafus Tracker". The instructions are available in several languages. 2: You will likely find that your cat goes beyond the 500m range more often than you might have thought. Don't panic, it's quite normal! 3: When you need to recharge the battery in each tag, be careful not to lose the screws while the tag is open! (This is a bit of a nuisance; it would be so much better if it were possible to open and close the tag without the use of screws.) 4: I agree with some users that the included instructions are not very clear. In particular, the synchronization between the base unit and the tags is not clarified. However, it is nicely explained in the YouTube video.

Pour un chat de gouttière qui parcourt des kilomètres ce n'est pas suffisant, par contre pour un chat qui ne s'éloigne ca cela fonctionne très bien, je l'ai testé sur mes trois chats, je les ai lâchés dans la nature et les ai retrouvés en 2 min

Sencillo y Eficaz. Vengo de probar distintos localizadores GPS que no me han funcionado. Este aparato sirve y está bien hecho. Ayer los probé en el monte y si tienes un perro o dos que marchan a un bosque y no los puedes localizar, este aparato sirve donde no hay señal de teléfono. están bien hechos. No os dejéis timear por otros localizadores del mercado que dicen que localizan, dan señal de actividad t demás historias son un timo. Muy recomendable compra, se ve que hay un servicio detrás ya que te dan contactos por email en caso de necesidad. ponerlos en marcha es muy sencillo.
