I have used it to bypass the dac in my Bluesound Node 2i, my Meridian cd player and my computer and it has made a major and noticeable improvement to all three sources. Everything is much clearer, much more precise but still musical and certainly not cold. It is well built, the screen is excellent and the options and controls make it very versatile. Well worth the money. Overall I am extremely pleased and would recommend it to anyone looking for a dac in this price range. Extensive testing in audiosciencereview shows minute performance differences. None audible. **Q: Will this dac support 7.1, etc ?** A: its a stereo dac, not surround **Q: Is this a dac and an amp, or just a Dac?** A: It is a DAC and a headphone amp. **Q: Is this going to be better sound than a Chord Mojo 2?** A: "Better" is way too subjective a measure to provide a meaningful answer. What you like is not the same as what I, or anyone else, may like. The ADI-2 can best be described as a device that will reproduce what is recorded at the level of quality of the base material. If the original recording is bad, the ADI-2 will sound bad, if it is good, the ADI-2 will reflect that as well. It does not tend to influence the material, just lets it be what it is. The advantage of the ADI-2 is that is has some DSP. There is a really neat loudness function for listening to low volumes and a parametric equalizer to help with room correction, or to make up for a deficiency in speaker ability. It has 3 digital inputs and can be used as a preamplifier. There is also a headphone and IEM amplifier with some nice DSP functionality. Does the ADI-2 sound better than the Chord 2? I don't know. What I do know is that it will reproduce what it is fed without coloration, unless you need it to. It is way more than just a DAC.
