My Spark does not have the breaking system - I received this wear ring the day after I ordered it. I own a machine shop, and can tell you that the quality of the machining on this product is excellent. My Spark does not have the breaking system, and I installed it in less than 15 minutes (after watching a youtube video). My factory impeller fit this wear ring perfectly - no dragging, with only a few thou clearance between the prop and the ring. I have not tested the ski out yet, but so far I am extremely happy with this product. There are cheaper SS wear rings available, but I found several complaints about them dragging on factory impellers. This one was priced just over $100, but had better reviews that the ones priced at $200. This ring has already paid for itself. A lake I go to has a lot of sticks and shells, so it's not uncommon to suck debris up. This ring is stainless steel and will not shred like the plastic. It poses a greater risk of damaging the impeller, however, I haven't had any issues yet.
