I have to keep it below the low setting for it to not boil. It also makes a crackling noise whenever I adjust the heat. The finish is also coming off already on the bottom. Not at all the quality that I'm used to in their slow cookers. Our counter top and back splash are formica. We have kept the unit for 3 full days and there has been no problem. It was about an inch away from the back splash. The temperature setting was a bit below a boil. Also keep the cord away from the heated surface.
