## Description

The PVX 12 passive loudspeakers deliver superior sound quality by utilizing advanced materials like its lightweight, roadworthy molded polypropylene exterior. Lightweight, durable and voiced for live music or speech applications, these two-way speaker systems will handle 400 watts program and 800 watts peak power and feature heavy-duty woofers, 2-3/8" voice coils and the Peavey RX14 1.4" titanium diaphragm compression driver coupled to a constant directivity horn.

Review: Great sound - Great sound
Review: A bargain for the price - I bought a pair of these speakers about a year ago for the practice room in my studio. Other speakers at this price (including my previous PA speakers) have Peizo tweeters which sound really shrill and harsh, especially at high volumes. I chose the Peaveys because they have Titanium Compression drivers which are much smoother and more natural sounding. Since I bought them I have used them in all sorts of situations - playing gentle background music one day and thrashing them at full volume during rehearsals the next. They sound sweet and balanced at all volume levels. I have removed a star only because to get the best out of these speakers you ideally need to run them through some sort of equalization. When connected directly to a music source they tend to sound a bit too loud in the midrange area, so I usually add a bit more bass and treble via a mixer or equalizer to even the sound out. A previous reviewer talked about the tweeters blowing all the time. I can't speak for anyone else of course, but I can safely say that mine have been regularly been tested to to their full capacity for extended periods and have never given me any problems. Also, with a 5 year warranty you still have the peace of mind that if they do break they can be easily repaired or replaced.

A: No, these are not powered speakers. You will need a separate amplifier to power them, which is where you would connect the XLR cables.

**Q: Can these be clustered together and then ceiling mounted? If so what parts do you recommend? What amp/wattage is recommended to push these?**
A: Hey there, they're not specifically designed to be clustered, but I think you could probably rig up some sort of a brace if you were prepared to drill  some brackets into the bodies of the speakers. I would recommend heavy duty eye hooks bolted through from the inside of the casing and then chained to the ceiling. They are plastic bodied but the plastic is very heavy duty so in my opinion would quite easily support their weight on any side. They are rated at 800w peak, but I would recommend driving them with no more than 500w continuous wattage so that they are not overloaded even at full volume. They are quite efficient so even at 200w they are still impressively loud. They sound sweet for PA speakers, but they are a bit heavy on the midrange so I would suggest using them in conjunction with a graphic equaliser so you can enhance the low and high frequencies a bit.
