William Morris (1834-1896) was one of the most celebrated practitioners of the Arts and Crafts movement. He embraced the ideal of craftspeople taking pride in their personal handiwork, as opposed to the dehumanising onslaught of the Industrial Revolution. In creating woven and printed textile patterns (only one area expressed by his remarkable talents), Morris chose to work with the ancient technique of hand woodblock printing. He famously said that any decoration is futile when it does not remind you of something beyond itself. He sought inspiration for his famous repeating patterns from the natural world around him, mille-fleurs tapestries and early prints of herbs as well as the crispness and abundance of exquisite detail in mediΓ¦val art. It's beautiful to look at, and I don't stuggle keeping the pages open as I use them. I've used paperblanks notebooks before and love them. There's a pocket at the back to keep bits and pieces - this is the same size as the notebook.I have had an issue with my fineliners bleeding through the pages at times, but thats usually only when I've held the pen there too long. There's some ghosting as well from some of my pens, but a lot less than other notebooks I've used.I maybe wouldn't purchase one for a bullet journal again, as I think I'd like something a little bigger.
