I did leave the carpeted mat underneath it, and I'm sure if I removed that entirely, it would fit even better. I decided to keep it (the carpeted mat) underneath the all-weather mat for sound proofing and because I have limited storage for the other mat. The tray came well packaged in a large box - unfolded. I was able to quickly install it and it has already been on its first 600 mile road trip. It collected water that had leaked from a punctured water bottle and dirt off luggage wheels. Easy to clean and it acted as an effective barrier to that stuff getting on the carpet mat.
