I might love this story a bit more than the original, the Prince recognized Cinderella even in servants clothing. He believed in love, he believed they were meant to be. Great rewrite, great story, great book. I just wish the stepmother and sisters ended up being servants like in the film with Drew Barrymore, Ever After, that would have been great! Review: A Thoughtful Retelling of a Classic Tale - I have always enjoyed the story of Cinderella, be it how every human does a believable part or how the magic isn't all overpowering (not to mention the Disney music). I appreciate this version the most however because it very poignantly points out that a "happily ever after" ending is not without some serious work on the couples part. But I was pleasantly surprised by this alternate ending. I also loved how the original story was alluded to even if vaguely.
