The grip has its own battery and it acts as an optional battery bank for the MT when you double tap the button on the bottom of the grip. The trigger was NOT enabled by default on arrival. It needs to be enabled in the Scan Settings menu, which is located with the other main settings, but DON'T search for it in the settings search bar. You will not find it. You have to scroll to get to it. (It took me a while to figure this out). There were no instructions that came with the device, so you're on your own. Luckily, most things are intuitive for anyone who has ever used an Android phone. About the action character option, which is the optional character that in sent following the scan (like the carriage return aka the enter key). If you're using a remote desktop app that uses tab rather than enter to move between fields, you should know that Android keyboards generally do not have a tab key and many Android apps including the MS RD Client for Android does not seem to support the tab key. Luckily, this isn't a problem for me. The MT seems like it has good hardware. The processor is definitely fast enough and the device seems durable. We'll see if it stands the test of time. I purchased the upgraded Honeywell version mainly because I've always preferred Honeywell scanners to others, and Honeywell didn't disappoint.
