Review: Great Fun and Replay Value - This game is fun all around. I bought it to play with my kids, and it has given us hours of fun. You can play the story mode as Batman and Robin, going through three different stories that each feature five levels. Along the way, you acquire upgraded suits to wear, as well as using lego pieces to beuild new weapons and items to help you along the way. Each level has a boss character or two, and you get to square off against a motley assortment of Batman's enemies: Joker, Harlety Quinn, Bane, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, Two-face, Riddler, etc., etc., etc. Then, after you have beaten a level, you can go back and play it in freeplay mode, choosing from among any of the characters you've unlocked along the way. Typically, you unlock villain characters by defeating them in story mode, and other characters by purchasing them using coins you earn during gameplay. But once you've unlocked Arkham Asylum, you also open up a whole new set of campaigns featuring the bad guys, with new story modes specifically for the villains. Some levels you will need to complete multiple times to get all the things there are to get, because different characters have their own abilities and sometimes you need a certain character to get to a certain item. For this reason it never gets old replaying levels you've already beaten, because going through a previously beaten level with a new set of characters makes the whole experience feel fresh all over again. This gives the game tremendous replay value. You acquire hero packs and red bricks in these levels which are useful because the red bricks give you new options and cool tricks to try out during gameplay, and the hero packs go into the trophy room at Wayne Manor to build status representing the different levels you've beaten. It's all quite fun and makes it worth your while to replay old levels. And the humor... gotta love the humor. My little girl was cracking up at almost all of the cut scenes, as the characters often act silly and do silly things. This is such a fun game. We absolutely love it!
Review: LEGO Batman is great! - First of all let me say that the "LEGO" games that I've played so far for the DS are great! My first encounter was Indiana Jones and then I got "LEGO Battles". (Both are excellent btw) I've read reviews on the Star Wars games etc., but i just haven't had the time to get into all of them. From what I've experienced so far, the "LEGO" series of games are well worth the investment. Because for one thing, they're FUN. You have to 'blow up the scenery' in order to succeed. The graphics, story lines, quests, characters and character movements and abilities are addicting. Especially Batman for the DS. There are Hero and Villain modes. Who wouldn't want to play the Joker and have Batman be your sidekick in Free Play mode? It's just a lot of fun. I do have to say that I've been a loyal follower of the Zelda series (always bought the newest Nintendo system because there was a new Zelda game...) but now I'm starting to lean towards the "LEGO" series. Great job Warner Brothers and TT Games! Thanks.
