This is a finish sander, so don’t expect to be removing finish or paint fast with this. Knowing this going in, I love this sander. It’s so smooth and quiet. Dust collection is phenomenal as you expect with festool. It’s very comfortable in the hand. Holding it in your hand, you can feel the quality. I’m not one to baby my tools and have no fear that I’ll ever wear this thing out, it’ll last. The 3 year all inclusive warranty is always a deciding factor for me. It’s variable speed just in case but I seldom take it off the highest setting. I needed a smaller orbit to round out my sander inventory. My other main sander is not great for veneer and other delicate sanding. I do a lot of refinishing so that was a huge reason I bought this one. I don’t have to worry about eating through veneer now. Between my 5mm stroke Bosch and other festool detail sanders, anything else will just be because I like having cool stuff. All my sanding needs are taken care of now

I've used a lot of orbital sanders and was actually reluctant to purchase this one due to the higher price. I needed something for the shop that would have better dust collection and a hose that was lightweight. I previously purchase the Rockler vacuum hose for small tools and was very disappointed. It's heavy and cumbersome, many times pull your tool off the workbench or catching on the hose ribbing. This sander, when coupled with the HEPA vacuum system, is surprisingly good. I expected it to be of high quality since it's Festool, but didn't think it would perform up to the price. It does. There is less vibration and it sands smoother in every way. The vacuum works so well with it that there isn't any sawdust on the piece at all. It's actually amazing. The detachable power cord makes it easier to store and the sustainer (container) is really good. A tool that comes with a rectangular case that is stackable; what a great idea. All they other tools I have come with odd shaped vacuum plastic containers that take up more space than they need to. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

This sander is so comfortable to use. Vibration is very minimal. I can use it for hours and never have ‘tingly hands’ like my previous sander. When connected to my dust extractor the dust extraction on this sander is phenomenal. One complaint I have is that the default pad doesn’t hold the 3M Cubitron mesh sand paper well. Festool sells an interface pad and when I use it the 3M mesh paper holds to it very well. Overall, I am glad I paid the money to get this sander. It sands so much better than my previous sander, doesn’t hurt my hands, and does an amazing job with extracting thee sanding dust.

My old Porter Cable ROS finally died, so I broke out the Festool sander I got years ago, never used. I am an idiot for not replacing all my ROS's and use this Festool sooner. Hardly any vibration, dust extraction is perfect, no sanding fatigue, and it is not too loud even without ear protection. Shop vac makes more noise than this tool. Highly recommended.

If you're a first-time buyer wondering whether a premium sander is worth it—stop wondering and just get this one. After years of hand sanding and a decade with a corded Harbor Freight sander, I finally upgraded to this Festool model. I wish I had done it sooner. The difference is night and day. Love this sander combined this m337 case took out the sand paper out of another placed in 337 box did this twice and than placed sander on top this means one box and everything is in side no need for three boxes

I'm a starting woodworker and have been using a Ryobi orbital sander for years. I saw a review on this Festool sander from 731Woodworks and wanted to research it. I had a large sanding project where I was restoring an old pine pie cabinet and prepping it for paint. This sander is by far one of the best investments I've ever made in a tool and my very first purchase of Festool of any kind. It's super crazy smooth and powerful. The volume was a lot less than the Ryobi and the biggest thing was that the fatigue from holding it went down to almost nothing. I didn't have to turn it off at any point in the job to take a break so I could feel my hand again from the vibration of the tool. I have a lot of Ryobi hand tools, mostly because I'm a beginner and needed to save money, so staying with them seemed the natural thing to do especially since it was cordless. However, I don't mind the tradeoff of this corded Festool at all now that I've used it. It's got a very long cord and I don't feel I'm getting tangled up in it. I literally through the Ryobi sander I had in the garbage after 1 day of using this. Drop the mic and roll the credits... Boom!
