The distribution amp installed 12 years ago when I built the house is still going strong. A 5445 is 4 years old and working fine. Expect these will serve you well.I use this 5415 for a media server and also have a 5445 for 4 DVD juke boxes. The modulators and the feed from the off-air antenna are connected to a Channel Plus DA-550HHR. System works very well for distribution throughout the house.We have only 5 base digital TV channels here so finding available spaces for the modulator outputs was simple. A test of vacant channels can be made by trying a possible modulator channel number on your TV (Modulator output is analog so ## no dash # as is found on digital TV channels). If the TV goes to a digital channel, try again. Check the channel below and above the number you plan to use - it is good to have a vacant channel on each side of the modulator channel.I found the lower channels to be very solid. The ones above 50 had a slight shimmer and wiggle when used with the antenna on the longer cable runs. The 5445 was used a year ago for a coax run of 80' to a TV that had cable, the channels I used were all above 100 and worked well.Yes, the 54xx series is mono sound but I do not find that a problem. TV speakers or sound bars are a bit less bright due to the mono output but not enough to even give it a thought. Most stuff does not benefit from theater sound. For those the do, I have optical or coaxial feeds to the preamp so the mono output of the modulators is irrelevant.If your source is not HD, modulators will serve well without a bunch of messing around. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Head & Shoulders Above Other Products! *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2013* If you are considering this product, it is likely for a special situation. In my case, I was looking to add the output of a Panasonic DV deck to the video system in my home (3 TV monitors). I had an old Video Stabilizer / Enhancer that I figured would do the job. Upon connection, I was really disappointed with the audio, in spite of the video being decent. I received the Channel Plus 5415, configured to UHF Channel 42 and I was shocked at the improvement!After a few minutes, I began to notice noise in the audio, which I attributed to over modulation - signal too strong. I tested a couple of old splitters which I figured could temporarily act as attenuators. 3.5db and 7db, respectively. That reduced the noise / buzz, but, also degraded the audio. Long story short, I figured that the cable end of the Samsung tuner would be better able to handle over modulation from cable input and it was. I reset the output of the Channel Plus to CATV channel 84 and bingo! The noise in the audio vanished and the video remained excellent.The product is excellent and if you have issues with over modulation, try using a CATV channel as your output. I could not be happier with the result! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No more Buzzing signal. *by R***T on Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2015* This unit is much better then the unit it replaced. I had bought a cheaper ($25) big name unit that had so much noise (buzzing) when the station used a certain camera I thought I was using a old fashion analog signal. This unit has taken care of that. I must say you get what you pay for. The picture is good with no ghost or double picture. I am using is a 46" Hitachi TV but the best signal I can get is 480. It is easy to set up but like some other people had said I wish it had a Digital display to show what channel you have selected. Flashing lights showing what channel is selected is old school. The unit arrived on time and was securely packed.
