Review: Great for Practice, Testing, Training (A-Zoom 22 LR Dummy Rounds) - I ordered these A-Zoom 22 LR dummy rounds via desertcart Prime, and got them in 2 days, great experience as usual with desertcart Prime. I already had 9mm and 45acp A-Zoom snap caps for my S&W M&P pistols and they work great for training, testing, and practice, so I added these 22 LR dummy rounds to my collection for a Winchester Model 62A pump action rifle we inherited from my wife's father/grandfather. Since I've never actually fired a pump action rifle before it is nice to learn to load and use the gun before actually going to the range. The main difference between these dummy rounds and snap caps is that the snap caps are center fire which have a rubber center for the firing pin to hit whereas these are just a solid dummy round not meant to be used for practice fire. If you do pull the trigger to engage and release the hammer, the pin will nick the casing, and after repeated use it will be unusable due to deformity, or may even become lodged in the firearm. So basically I'll use these to become more familiar with how the rifle works with loading and ejecting spent rounds. I also purchased some Pachmayr 22 LR plastic safety snap caps which I review separately. I definitely would recommend these 22 LR A-Zoom dummy rounds to anyone who would want to become familiar with a firearm. I bought these 22 LR dummy rounds along with A-Zoom 44 Special snap caps, A-Zoom 16 Gauge snap caps, and Pachmayr 22 LR plastic safety snap caps (rim fire) which I will review separate.
Review: 22 by dryfiring "without" a spent round or dummy rounds like these. I use these in my pistol to ... - I ruined the firing pin in a bolt action .22 by dryfiring "without" a spent round or dummy rounds like these. I use these in my pistol to dryfire and check functionality. Even though the firing pin in my pistol never strikes the rear of the chamber, I use them anyway. The blue color is easily recognizable from brass that helps with safety. NEVER mix live rounds with dummy rounds. NOT even for "flinch" practice. I like the aluminum (?) because it absorbed the shock of the firing pin strike. I tried plastic dummies and anchor bolts from the hardware store. The plastics break after one or two strikes. And, the anchors do not extract. I get about 15 strikes before they will not eject. I may try filing down the edges of the rims to see if I can get a few more strikes.

## Features

- .22 LR rimfire dummy rounds
- Same size as factory ammunition
- CNC-machined from solid, hard anodized aluminum
- Can be loaded into a magazine just like real ammo

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why are they advertised on the package as snap caps and then further into the description they say they are not snap caps**
A: I don't know about the description but they are NOT snap caps. They are dummy rounds.

**Q: I have a browning bl-22 rifle. Will these work?**
A: Yes, it will fit any firearm that uses the 22 LR round.

**Q: are these .22 blue dummy rounds like snap caps? or will it break them?**
A: Not snap caps. They are made of aluminum in the shape and rim of a .22 bullet. They prevent the firing pin from striking and damaging the barrel breach when dry firing. You have to rotate the dummy round each time as not to strike the same area more than once. I feel they were over priced for the amount you get. If your are using them to release the firing pin spring for storage like I do, you can get the same results by using an empty .22 casing.

**Q: Will it load and chamber into the barrel of my 22 long rifle pistol ? Which is semiautomatic**
A: I used this product to practice failure drills on my advantage arms .22 LR Glock 21 gen 4 loads fine. Only issue is the firing pin will strike this product will cause uneven wear on firing pin due to the 1/2 surface. Unlike other practice rounds with rubber or holes for firing pin. See photos below.

I ruined the firing pin in a bolt action .22 by dryfiring "without" a spent round or dummy rounds like these. I use these in my pistol to dryfire and check functionality. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ They're not snap caps, but they're good quality.
*by C***N on August 1, 2018*

Man, these things are of great quality. My only knock against them is something they fully admit to... that they're not snap caps. I didn't buy these expecting that, as I bought them just to really keep in the breech of my guns JUST IN CASE one of the kids pulled the trigger while handling my rimfire guns. It saved the breech from a pin strike, however, it definitely still puts a solid dent in rim of the dummy round, which I really feel could've been engineered a little differently to prevent that. Perhaps a different material or metal of some sort. Anyway, regardless, they advertise as NOT being snap caps, so I can't hold that against them too much. They fit perfectly in mags, and never fail to load when needed, so from that standpoint, they do exactly what they're supposed to - they load from a magazine into a breech, and then eject properly when called upon. Supposedly, they're for training. :/
