But we used these camping last weekend and I'm totally in love with this set. The plates are just as large as our plates at home, and the substantial lip is a great forethought for when you're trying to balance your dinner on your knees around the campfire (particularly useful for dispersed camping). I guess you're supposed to insert the smaller cup into the larger one but we saw no need for that, giving you in effect eight cups to use. The bowls are a pretty good size as well and the lid is genius - it almost doubles as a spare plate if you need another flat surface for food. We did manage to melt one of the plates a bit by pulling our pie iron out of the fire and trying to slap the sandwich down on the plate immediately after, but it didn't affect the structural integrity of the plate. I know the set says it's dishwasher safe, but I'm not taking any chances so I handwashed it all again once we got home (butter/fat doesn't come off very well when you're camping in cold weather so be prepared to wipe these down with something dry before next use if that bothers you). I see no reason this set won't last us many seasons, but if they don't, I'm really happy that I can recycle them once their camp life has ended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Superior to old school metal plates *by J***J on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2012* I purchased this set for our camping trip this last weekend. I love it! Very compact, and the plates were big enough to please my "where's the beef" husband. They are all very sturdy, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cups. Inside each of the lidded cups there is a smaller cup, so you really get 8 cups out of the deal. The lidded cups aren't leak proof, so for those calling them sippy cups, it's not really true. We used them to keep the bugs out of our beer and my sons milk, and they did the trick! We also ate steak on the plates, but since we used the serrated knives from the Coleman cutlery (that are not metal, but they cut apples and our steak without issue) there didn't seem to be noticible scrathes.. I imaging that eventually they will get scratched, but they are for camping, so I'm not too concerned.I did get home and pop them in the dishwasher.. I noticed on another review that they warped. My plates did warp a tiny bit, but I stacked them up and put a heavy pot on top, and they were back to normal. I also love the bag. I put the dishes away in our tent trailer, and the bag was handy to take to the beach :). Overall, I love it! We are actually going to order another set to keep in the trunk for unexpected picinics. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't warp, really tight fitting cup lids *by B***N on Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2017* We recently took these on our week long camping trip in Olympic National Park. Before we left, I washed them on the top rack of the dishwasher to make sure they would hold up to high heat that others said in their reviews caused issues. The bowl lids did bend a little, but they are so flexible that they still fit on the bowls. Everything else was fine, even when transferring hot greasy bacon directly off the griddle onto the plates. We had an older GSI set and love that this one has actual bowls for cereal and snap on lids for storing leftovers in the cooler. The insulated cup is large, and I loved having the lids on all the time to keep bugs and ash out. I also found myself using the lids for my kids all the time to prevent spills. The lids snap on TIGHT, which makes it difficult to open to refill or wash. I also found the 2 sets of cups a bit overkill.
