Pretty easy install
This kit was overall an easy install. These OEM units are generally pretty painless, but each manufacturer writes their own instructions and preps the kits differently. I've installed one before in a Kia and it was about as simple but Hyundai/Kia models have better instructions. Instructions were not included in this Ford kit, by the way, but they are so easily available I won't knock a star for it. A couple of notes that might save someone some uncertainty for installs on a '14 Escape: - The brown horn wire is part of the air bag connector and it routes under the steering column where it is easiest to tap. It's a super super thin wire on the bottom of the loom. - During programming of the DB-9 PATS module, the instructions say to wait for the PATS light to display on the dash. Don't hold your breath, it never does illuminate (this is the red "i" light in between the fuel and temp gauge). Since there is such a delay in the 2-way remote, my recommendation is to put the first OEM key in, turn it to run, turn it off. Put the 2nd OEM key in, turn it to run, press the remote start button, press it again and hold it for 2 secs, then turn they key off and take the 2nd OEM key out. You only have 5 seconds between each key and between the final key and remote start attempt, so that closes the gap a bit. As you're removing key 2 the remote start will attempt to start and that will program the DB-9 module before 5 secs elapse. - Look on YouTube for instructions on how to turn off the feature that causes the remote start to stop when opening the door or turning the key. It's option bank 7 but watching a video is easiest way to learn how to reach it. - The 2 wires running to the junction box on the passenger side run just fine behind the climate control panel. A skinny hand can fit behind each side. Glove box definitely has to be removed to access the junction box. And while you're at the junction box, if you see a sticker with a 5 digit code taped to the junction box, that is your keypad PIN for the PIN door unlock feature in case you don't know said PIN. - The hood opening sensor does not have to be installed. Vehicle starts fine w/o. Just cut the wire.

Patience is a virtue, and warm winter mornings are your reward!
This kit is great! I used it to install Remote Start on my 2012 Ford Focus SEL Automatic with Key Start. The kit contains everything you need for installation. I would recommend a few more zip-ties to add security to the installation. If you are attempting this install yourself, here are a few tips from my experience: - Read before you try anything! There are PDFs online which detail all the connections you need to make. - Do NOT assume wire color indicates the wire you need to splice into. Specifically; there is a situation where you need to tap the horn wire, and there are two identically colored - and also when you need to tap a brown wire in a BCM connector, and there are five brown wires. Check the right pin, or do the voltmeter tests described in the manual. Then cut. - The connection you need to make "at the ignition switch" for the large pass-through is actually to the left of the steering wheel. The switch passes through a large barrel. - Antenna location is important to range. I have an electric rear-view mirror with rain sensor, so I mounted mine on the windshield to the right side of the sensor just after the black material on the glass. This puts the antenna hidden behind the mirror whilst driving. - Grounding location is vague in the manual. I drilled a small hole and used a self-tapping screw behind the rocker panel molding that was removed to feel the antenna wire through. - You will most likely want to change some programming options after install. Google search for "710620.PDF", and that document will give you what you need. A very good setup from Ford. Now my car is warmer than my house in the mornings!
