One person must hold the vacuum to keep the ON/OFF button on the vacuum in the ONposition while the other person must keep the button bar on the grooming attachment pressed down to the open position so that the brushes remain exposed during brushing. It's nice that most of the loose hair goes into the vacuum cleaner.
