It needed to sound good and put out enough volume and bass to be heard and felt with the top down and doors off at up to 70MPH. This not only fits perfectly in the tiny cargo area, but it sounds amazing and provides outstanding lows even without the benefit of a sealed trunk. Even with the Jeep top completely removed this little sub puts out a lot of low end, and you can feel it in in the seats. It is capable of way more volume than I need or would be comfortable listening to. I power it with 300 watts RMS and cross this sub over at 150hz via my aftermarket head unit with outstanding results. Plenty of volume, clarity, and bass across many musical genres. In addition to the outstanding sonic performance, the down-firing design allows me to place cargo items on top of the sub without any concern of damage. What a great design.
