The battery on a completely full charge will fully be used up and the camera will power off on these modes. It makes it impossible to even film anything in these modes and there is NOT an option to plug the camera in and run it that way - it only runs off batteries. The picture is 1080p and is what you would expect out of an HD camera but the main reason I bought this camera was for the night vision, infrared modes of video capture. The actual camera is a Sony - they've just slapped a sticker over the logo. I would return the camera and probably should but I just don't want to deal with that headache right now. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone serious about filming long shots over 2min in infrared, etc. This just isn't the camera for it and I feel like the one guy who mentioned this serious problem - I should have paid attention to his review. Thanks Cliff!Replacement was sent as Fast - Or Faster than original. Second Camcorder works GREAT - No Problems. First one the screen was "DOA" and would not power on at all. The base camera is typical Chinese construction. The High Def. image is fine. I haven't noticed any significance for the Ultraviolent mode. I am sure there are nor durable cameras out there.
