A: No. It reads AC amps. Your car runs on DC. Good question. It can read DC voltage and ohms. If you trouble shoot your problem with that information, go for it. Now to read DC amps you install a shunt and read the voltage drop across the shunt. Shunts are 1,2 ohms the can carry a high amperage.
