For use with a drill press the cutter will cut a inside or outside circle with its reversible blade. This cutter is designed for wood or plastic only. Review: Working great - Perfect price working great. Die cast counter weight broke off on first hole but not needed. So far cut 30+ 6in holes in 3/4in pine with no problems. Bit still sharp. Must use drill press and clamp work piece down. Using a powerful 2hp variable speed drill press on low speed. Start hole on one side, then flip and finish from other for clean surface on both sides. Cutter is sharpened on both ends which is great. Steel shaft is deformed a bit where hole for cutter goes through. Hopefully this is related to the broaching operation that formed it rather than cutter forces. That would account for initially cracked counter weight as well. Good simple product performing well. Note these are dangerous cutting operation so be careful. Review: Nice Clean Holes - Worked great. I cut out some 4" wooden wheels from 1/2" Baltic Birch and the cut was clean and crisp....barely needing any sanding. The cutter is very sharp and does the job well. It throws out some very fine curls of wood so be prepared to vacuum up the sawdust. I did have some difficulty swapping the blade around to cut outside the line. Maybe something I was doing wrong. But all in all I am very satisfied. UPDATE: 8/8/17 I cut 8 holes with this circle cutter. The first 3 went without issue. The remaining cuts required sharpening between cuts. However, I feel the problem was not so much with the quality of the cutter but more with the speed of my drill press. The bit got too hot and blued. The slower you can turn this the better. If you cut 75% and flip the piece over, tearout is minimized. Haven't tried cutting to the outside (you can flip the cutting bit around) to make wheels. First job was with underlayment (1/4" ply) so not too tough, but a lot of them. Can't assess cutting edge life in harder materials. Only negative is it's hard to set diameter precisely as loosening the set screw allows the bar to slip easily. So very fine adjustments are tedious cut-and-try.
