Review: Updated: Excellent quality/ease of use at low cost. - Excellent value. Using as a Bluetooth receiver, I connected audio out to my DAC/Amp using the SPDIF RX port and the supplied optical SPDIF cord. I got power by connecting the supplied USB charging cable to the USB firmware update port on my DAC (pleased to find it provides power). Pressed the power button and it immediately showed up as an available Bluetooth device on my iPhone. Opened the Qobuz app and successfully streamed music. Sound quality seemed excellent - not quite as good as streaming from USB on my PC or using DTS Play-Fi, but still very dynamic and clear. Since I streamed from iPhone, I’m guessing it’s using the AAC codec listed as available, but can’t say for certain. Noticed that the Qobuz app automatically switched from Hi-Res down to CD quality when using this to stream. Since it selected CD quality rather than MP3, maybe that suggests it’s using AAC rather than the lower quality SBC codec. I also used for streaming from various other apps (e.g., podcast apps) from my iPhone, which was my intended purpose since I can stream from my music apps over WiFi using DTS Play-Fi. However, the stream quality was good enough with this device via SPDIF that I’d be fine using it for casual music listening, and it also opens up playing from websites and apps that aren’t available via Play-Fi. I highly recommend as a Bluetooth digital streamer providing extreme ease of use and high quality for a very low cost. I cannot comment on the quality of the internal DAC in this device, if one needed to connect it directly to an analog input on a stereo receiver or powered speakers, since I only used it via the digital SPDIF outlet to my DAC. UPDATE: I got around to test listening to the DAC in this Bluetooth receiver, running its analog out via RCA jack to an analog input on my amp. Honestly, I tried A/B switching between this versus running it digitally to my dedicated DAC and thought both sounded great. This one might be a tiny bit on the brighter side, but in any case sounded very good with a variety of Hi Res jazz and classical through my main home stereo. I was able to use aptX HD codec from Android and AAC codec from iphone (aptX HD seemed a little better, but just a little).
Review: Great performance at a value price - I purchased some Monoprice Headphones (143251) to replace my old Panasonic RF Headphones (BTW great quality headphones... just got old and ear cups were coming off). I paired the headphones with my Samsung TV and the delay was awful... almost a 2 second delay. I paired the headphones with my Onkyo AVR and the delay was a little better, but still unusable. I paired the headphones with the Monoprice Premium Bluetooth 5 Transmitter & Receiver and oh glory days.... an almost imperceptible delay. I would not even have know there was a delay if I didn't have the AVR volume up enough to hear over the headphones. I'm no pro but I would say less than 100ms of delay. I believe the matching aptX codecs make this a great duo. I did have 1 issue trying to get the headphones and transmitter to pair. Since I had paired the headphones with the TV before, the pairing mode would always try the TV first... even after doing a "reset" on the headphones. I had to move the headphones and transmitter to another part of the house to get them to pair. Once paired, no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend this duo for the casual listener.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Aac supported in tx mode?**
A: I do not have personal experience with AAC, BUT the unit specifications support AAC and do not distinguish between TX and RX. I have been very happy with the unit for MY application which is RX for a Toslink cable from my TV, and pairing to TWO bluetooth outputs (a sound bar and headphones) simultaneously or independently. Either bluetooth device can be turned on/off without any connect issues when turning one on again. Regardless of what the stupid instructions say, the unit MUST be ON to pair a device. Just pressing the pair button with the unit off accomplishes nothing. There are two Toslink ports, one for TX and one for RX, which cannot be used simultaneously (e.g. for digital audio pass-thru). There is a TX/RX switch which sets the operation mode to one or the other. i hope it works out for you!

**Q: Does the unit go to sleep mode after how long of inactivity? Does it go to sleep mode if it is plugged in?**
A: It does not sleep.

**Q: Could this be a better bluetooth connection for a windows pc w/my bluetooth headset instead of using my usb bluetooth w/its horrible latency/stutter?**
A: Yes it can.

**Q: Does the apt x low latency work in both tx and rx modes?**
A: Thank you for your inquiry. Yes the aptx low latency works for both tx and rx modes.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ In a word ... TINY. But in a good way.
*by W***R on March 28, 2024*

PRO: The price is TINY. Only $40 for this gadget vs $150+ for the Audioengine B1 or the Auris BluMe. I use a cheap Android phone as a receiver for internet radio and streaming services, and it works perfectly with the Monoprice receiver. (I haven't used it in transmit mode yet.) Bluetooth range is at least 40 feet, and that's going through a couple of walls. Sound quality is very good. CON: The gadget is TINY. The buttons are TINY. The cords to connect and power the gadget are infuriatingly TINY. Seriously, the short cords made the initial setup unnecessarily annoying. However, once I got it set up properly it has performed perfectly. If you need to add Bluetooth to your existing music system and appreciate a bargain, this is the way to go.
