It uses a vertically anchored ring system to accommodate a wide variety of lights. The ring will accept light bodies with a diameter from 1.00" to 1.03." A light can be installed and removed without having to take the mount off your handguard. The offset placement of the light while using the mount is designed to allow clearance with most front sights. For example, a 1.03" light like the Surefire G2 will work with the Magpul Gen 2 MBUS on a Noveske NSR, which is one of the thinnest handguards at 1.48" wide. I used a SureFire G2x Nitrolon LE single-output light with zero issues. This mount also clears my Magpul MBUS (the polymer variety, not the MBUS Pro) with no issues.Overall, this is a lightweight and easy to install item. Used a light in a way the mount was not particularly designed to be used and it worked anyway. I was able to grab the light closer to the tail cap because of the way the mount tightens. (Very clever) Careful if you do this because the mount is able to exhibit a crazy amount of leverage on the light when it tightens. I have no doubt you could crush a light body in this mount with no effort. Get it just tight enough and use the loctite. These guys really put some thought into this mount.
