The set is 3 different strengths. 1.5 lbs, 3 lbs, and 5 lbs. I bought these for my son to strengthen is fingers for playing the violin. I already had a 9 lb model, which was much to strong for him. The 1.5 lb and 3 lb are useless for us. He can easily completely compress them with very little effort. I'd say if you are using them for rehab, or have very weak hand strength they would be good. My son is 11 and the 5 lb model was the best as a starting point. I ended up getting the 5 lb and 7lb in addition to the 9 lb I already had. Obviously it's going to be different for each person, but I thought the lower models were just too easy to make them useful. The quality of the product is good, it also comes with an instruction sheet that shows different ways to use it depending on what you want to accomplish.
