Will this hold a 11 x 17 art portfolio and allow people to flip through pages?

Our 3A should hold a closed 11" x 17" portfolio.

Do they work well to hold open books?

I love using these holders to display my artwork for sale but I do not think that the front lip is tall enough to hold an open book.

Will this hold a stack of flyers (8.5"x11")?

This should hold a stack of flyers that size. I put a stack of 70 sheets of standard 20 lb. 8.5" x 11" paper on it and they stood up. The angle is adjustable which also helps.

How wide is this stand? The description says 8.5 x 8.5, but I don't think that's right.

Mine are 4 inches wide and 8 inches extended high. I love these you can carry a lot in a small container. My painting range from 4x6 to 14x 16.
