This is a heavy weight stone and at 16” is fits nearly any pizza. Stone was safely packaged in a box that provided excellent shipping safety. Having your pizza in a stone while in oven means that 1) when you take it out of the oven it keeps cooking for a bit but more importantly it keeps your pizza hot and 2) it provides a stable hard surface to cut your pizza into slices. Stone is thick in comparison to others, I have a pampered chef stone and this one is bigger (16”) and thicker (1/2”).
