Nest made installation nearly idiot proof. Read their requirement and check that your thermostat meet the requirement. All that entail is you remove your old thermostat, if you don't see a twisted pair or anything that mentioned 110/220 V on the old thermostat, you can use Nest. They provide a YouTube link that you can follow while installing Nest. I got mine done in about 30 min from start to finish, and I'm not a savvy electrician type. **Q: What does the 3rd gen do that the 2nd gen won't?** A: 3rd Gen NEST has a lot more than just size of the screen, it uses 2.4ghz and also 5ghz for better wifi connectivity, also a feature called FARSIGHT which allows you to see the screen as soon as you enter your home, to show you the temp status.
