I have someone that collects rooster items, so this will make a perfect gift for her. I'll fill it with a recipe and all the ingredients pre-measured out for a homemade cake we've always made in our family called Wacky Cake. All she'll need to do is add the 3 liquid ingredients. She loves this cake, and has always asked for the recipe, so it will be the perfect little gift for her, and I'm so glad I found this jar to put it in.It isn't a hermetically sealed jar, so know that before buying if you are looking for one. I wonder if replacing the gasket on it with one that is more flexible and thick would make it air tight. I do wonder. The gasket is a little too firm, so it doesn't create a really good seal. I closed it all up, made sure the gasket was centered all the way around first before locking it, then ran it under some water, and water was able to get in. If water can get in, air can too. A simple replacing of the gasket just might do the trick.It's the perfect size jar for any baking supplies, dried beans, pasta, craft items, dog treats, oats, popcorn, cereal etc. These jars are great for so many things. Since they aren't air tight, you really don't want anything in there that needs to be, like anything you want to keep moist. That kind of thing would dry out.One other thing I've seen these kinds of jars used for is saving notes, reminders, fortune cookie papers, wish list items, romantic quotes, words of encouragement those kinds of things.It does come with a piece of chalk to write on it with. I have a plethora of chalk markers so I would use those on it. I'm keeping the chalk for my friend I'm giving it to, to use. When she's done with the cake mix, she can put whatever she wants to in it, and use the chalk to label it, or just keep it as is.The chalkboard rooster came without a scratch on it. I was so glad because I've purchased another chalkboard label jar before, and the chalkboard part had a few little scratches on it. I'm happy to say that this one is pretty, and ready for gift-giving!*This product was purchased at a discount, not free, for testing and review.
