Review: The best by far has been Dirt Simple Hammered Dulcimer by ... - I don’t know what book you all have used to get started, but I’ve tried 3 so far. The best by far has been Dirt Simple Hammered Dulcimer by Mark Alan Wade. It starts out with a great simple explanation of the notes on the HD and where they are on notation. Then, it starts you on several really easy tunes so you feel like you’re learning and progressing. Finally, you can download the songs so that way you can hear what it’s supposed to sound like. My last song sounded like a nightmare until I listened to the download and got the rhythm right. Now it sounds great! So, I’m really impressed with this book. Great for those of us who knew nothing about the HD before.

I don’t know what book you all have used to get started, but I’ve tried 3 so far. The best by far has been Dirt Simple Hammered Dulcimer by Mark Alan Wade. It starts out with a great simple explanation of the notes on the HD and where they are on notation. Then, it starts you on several really easy tunes so you feel like you’re learning and progressing.
