Review: Works Great - Initial testing good. While not the cheapest option available, it is still quite reasonably priced and seems like a much more professional tool than the lower-priced options I tried. This unit has a relatively compact size, but still has a decent heftiness feel to it - I do not mean that it is heavy, just that it does not feel like a 50 cent plastic toy. Impressively, it comes with a real significant manual written in actual English (and many other languages too) instead of some Chinese gibberish. My one minor complaint is that the manual is just a bit too large to fit into the pocket in the case intended for storage. I solved this by just tearing the 24 page English section off the top of the manual, then folding it in half, but that should not have been necessary. Another notable feature is that the test leads come with tip covers that actually have real value. Instead of just completely covering the tips so that they have to be removed to use the meter at all, these leave the very ends of the tips exposed so that the leads can be used for many basic measurements with the covers left in place (such as a quick battery test). More than just convenience, these have the added value that if you need to measure something in a tight position where you are worried that the normally long and fully exposed tip might short out on something beside you intended measurement point, the lead cover proves extra protection. I'm not sure why most modern test leads come with full plastic covers anyway; what possible protection does a bare metal probe need in storage? The accuracy specs (from the manual) seem to be acceptable for a tool in this price range: DCV +-0.5%, ACV +-0.8%, Current +-2.5%, Resistance +-1.0%
Review: Great meter but terrible test leads - This Kaiweets HT206D clamp multimeter is great - I love it. For $48 it is a best buy. {{It competes well with my several hundred dollars Fluke multimeter. My biggest issue with Fluke is their probes are outrageously priced, but their meters are excellent.}} I have tested all functions, and it works very well. The clamping ammeter is a real plus. This is now my go-to meter for everyday projects. I like the fact that it uses two AAA batteries. I hate rechargeable anything and avoid them like the plague they are –always discharged when you need them most and you need to wait to recharge them. Not this meter – just slip in two new AAA batteries and you are good to go. Half the leads (mainly the fine pointed ones) that come with the meter, however, are crap and so is the optional Kaiweets 23-piece multimeter test lead kit. These have connectivity issues with either high ohms or ohms that continuously jump all over the place. They are held in place via a crimp and the conductivity is awful. The Kaiweets vendor replaced the 23-piece kit for me, but the replacement had the same conductivity issues. Save yourself time and aggravation, get a good lead set for this. I wasted a few weeks thinking the meter was bad when it was bad probes. These are the probes I ultimately settled on as excellent for this Kaiweets clamping multimeter: the Snakol 22-Piece Multimeter Test Lead Kit and the Bionso 25-Piece Multimeter Leads Kit - both at about the same price as the malfunctioning Kaiweets test probe kit. The main difference is the Snakol has longer probe handles which I like. I am using both sets, however. All the probes in these two sets have great conductivity and no issues and they fit the Kaiweets HT206D clamp multimeter. They give stable readings of 0-to-0.1-ohms. The main issue with these, however, is the probes need to be screwed into place with a wrench or needle nose pliers making changing probes more difficult. On the other hand, this is likely why they give such good conductivity. However, you can buy multiple sets so you can permanently set up the probes you use most frequently. Some of the other probes in the set are the plug-in type so they be changed easily and these have excellent conductivity as well. I find these two kits give me all the probes I need and more.

**Q: What are the concrete tips for automatic shutdown?**
A: This multi meter will automatically shutdown in 15 minutes of non use.

**Q: I want to measure current flowing to my car starter when cranking engine. Does this clamp on meter measure DC current when using clamp?**
A: Yes, It can read DC starting current with the clamp when set to DC measurement. Reading moves fast but I take video with mobile phone camera and rewind to see the 268A when starting a Nissan Frontier 2.5 L engine. Reasonable current though I cannot check its accuracy yet. I buy meter to monitor DC charging current and confirm non-running car leaking currents under 50mA but need to wait 20 minutes after engine off to let car computer stabilize from initial shutoff which can cab be as high as 0.6A. With this meter, I also find about 10mV leaking voltage on plastic surface between terminals at new battery (due to acid filling spill at manufacturing?) from club store which I need to reduce the Voltage drop to less than 0.1 mV by scribing several grooves on plastics surface around terminal posts. Calibrate to zero by holding Z/F button few seconds before measurement can help read accuracy. I am happy with this meter for the price. Hope you too if do not have time to find a better cheaper on

**Q: how accurate is th DC current measurment?**
A: From the listing it says "The measuring range of DC current is 60A/600A. Accuracy: ±(2.5%+5)".  That is not very accurate if applied to full scale; good if aplied to actual reading (fluke 1.5%+digits).  Especially since some manufacturers apply the accuracy to the full scale value and this may be one of them at this price.  That is, in the 600A setting it would be +/-(15+5) Amps, or +/- 20 Amps.  Maybe not real bad at 600 (but not good either) but horrible at say 65 Amps which could read between 45 and 85 amps.  

Hopefully, they apply to the actual reading, which means 65 Amps could read between 58.375 and 71.625 Amps.  You could try the 60A setting to see if you can resolve the reading further.

**Q: W/ backlite on I tilt the meter away from me the display is readable but once I tilt it towards myself the display becomes unreadable, is this normal?**
A: Yes, with the baclklight on, it's viewable from straight-on to tilted away from yourself, but with the top tilted towards you it loses all contrast. Side-to-side viewing angle is a good. This is a common trait among some LCD displays.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems like a good value

First impressions after 2 weeks of use. This meter does almost everything I need. Voltage and resistance readings are spot on. Capacitance readings seem accurate down to 10 pf. AC RMS voltage readings seem accurate. The ability to hold peak readings is a nice feature. The main limitation is current readings. AC current readings seem reasonably accurate (of course you need to place only 1 wire in the clamp. However DC current readings (in the 100 mA range) were inconsistent even after nullify out the stray magnetic fields with the "zero" button. Unfortunately there is no direct way to measure mA currents using the probes. (In one case I just put a 1 ohm resistor in series with the circuit and measured the voltage. As long as the current is less than 1 A, a 1 W resistor should suffice.) The auto power off function is nice, but the only way I found to turn the meter back on is to turn the function knob to "off" and restart. I found the thermocouple useful for checking the temperature of a power resistor. (I had no idea that they could hit 130 C while operating within their rated power!) All in all, I would recommend this unit for an advanced hobbyist.
