The stunts were comparable with Jackie Chan, Tom Cruise etc. Worth the watch. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars A good thriller, But sadly predictable *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 February 2020* Gemini man is a fun ride for the most partAnd will smith is great throughout as usualHowever it wasn’t the action scenes or acting, directing that was an issue.The problem I had with this movie is the pacing feels rough around the edges and sometimes forced. That being said some of the action scenes are fun brutal smart and surprisingly intense to watch especially the first sequence for me was the most excitingAnd then it sadly did get a little old near the end. Not to accuse the film from borrowing from the final shootout in John wick 3But the whole aim for the neck because there armour is bullet proof thing was done way better in John wick 3You could see John really struggle to just keep on suppressing those soldiers just about long enough to get close enough to finish them off before they get back upAnd here will smith’s character seems to just breeze through them, even if he is the best assassin ever he would still struggle way more than he actually did. It’s in the moments when he cant beat his opponents up front and had to get creative is when this movie is at its best.But all that being said Gemini mans greatest moments are in its action which has been wonderfully directed and acted throughoutAnd gorgeously shot by masterful cinematographyJust the big thing holding it down is...The predictable bland scriptSome of the dialogueAnd the storylines in the movie have been rushed to maintain consistent action throughoutWhich is always a misstep when you sacrifice story for another less exciting action scene than the one before it. If those scenes between will smith and himself and Clive own had actual time to let them all grow and delete all the bad dialogue and cliche boring character motivations here then I reckon this film would have delivered a far more emotional punch which it looked like it was trying forAnd lastly most of the cgi and digital de-aging is excellent honestly some shots I couldn’t believe it was a cgi images planted over will smiths face to make him youngerAnd then there were a few times during fights and when he talks and smiles at the end where it really looks obvious and not great.Overall if you love thrillers and vs movies or even just love a willSmith you be mostly satisfiedHowever this film does have its problemsAnd when compared to others that do the action thriller genre better it becomes very apparent what those problems wereEspecially with story and pacingBut still can be an enjoyable rideWould recommend at least a rent to watch it once ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like it but... *by J***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 February 2020* SPOILER ALERT: I watch most things with Will Smith in. Even his less known work like Concussion, I found something to enjoy. This film had drama, amazing stunts and excellent special effects. But it was just...kinda...boring! I can't quite put my finger on it but perhaps its the storyline which although the flashiness made it seem original - there are any number of eighties movies that were using similiar plots thirty plus years ago.A deadly assassinHe wants to retireSomething from his past comes back to haunt himand he's thrown into the action once moreYes, the twist is that Will Smith has a clone. But you knew that from the advert.
