I use the strap which has velcro on top which the pad adheres to.It is just the right height to rest my arm on and when I push down on it, it will spread the force so I do not crack the thin plastic top of the console. A replacement console costs $130 as I found out after I bought the car used and the console was cracked. But the cushion over time gets too squishy; you know what I'm saying. Foam density needs improvement. It secures to the console lid well. The elastic band is pretty good; still holding my breath to see if it will meet the durability challenge; I think not, but hoping for the best.Its also great if you have a dog whose claws may scratch the center console. My Leonberger likes to sit in the back and plot his front paws on the center console to see where we are going. So the Console Buddy has an unintended benefit too.
