For airport travel.** A: We just bought this and used it (March of 2022) and the base does fit the base. You have to click the car seat into the base first. I’m not sure if the older version was smaller but it does fit. The backpack weighs like 30 lbs all together with the base and stroller inside so it’s heavy, however we used it to gate check our Doona.
