They love to sit on top of it, sit inside of it, and scratch it. Sometimes they even fight over who gets to lounge on it. I hate having more traditional scratching posts, because they are such eyesores, so I enjoy it as much as they do. We had one of these blocks that lasted for two years, but then it became frayed. Whenever they scratched, it shed a lot of small pieces of cardboard everywhere and made a terrible mess. I replaced it with a new one, and the kitties love it just as much! It is expensive and it does have to be replaced after a few years, but it doesn't look hideous in my living room, and it's such a hit with the cats, that I think it's worth it. Review: Worth it - picky cat loves it! - I never write reviews, but had to this time to tell fellow cat guardians this is actually worth the $59 price tag for, essentially, cardboard. The box itself is sturdy and well constructed, able to be easily portable, but heavy enough to support cat antics w/o toppling or crushing. My cat is super unimpressed by most cat toys and apps I've purchased. The local humane society has been the beneficiary many times of his cat toy ennui. I saw this recommended by Jackson Galaxy on his show, and immediately Googled it. After some hesitancy in paying $59 for a cardboard box, I ordered. Could not be more pleased. After a good snooty sniff or two, my cat climbed in & started scratching. Several days later, he sleeps in it and sits on it, happily scratches away & really enjoys the damn simple thing. That being said, my grandcat just loves it therefore I love it. She lounges on it, in it, and enjoys scratching it. Here’s hoping it holds up over time.
