Had to add shim to close gap to male it close properly, but that was due to how the gate was hung, not a latch issue. Opens and closes easily and engages to stay closed (I was initially worried that it might no latch properly, but this was not the case. Be sure the gate will slam just shy of the center of the post...preferably a square post. The application pictured is a horse stall setup using custom made farm gates that swing to facilitate cleaning the stalls with a skid steer. The gates all swing the same direction. *NOTICE* These latches are made in USA! I have no complaints.
