The light in the handle never worked and I doubt it would be of any use anyway. For a person who needs a cane and is tired of the old cane falling on the floor after leaning it against the wall or furniture, this cane, if ordered with the optional four-pronged foot, will stand up on its own. However, it is $10 extra and well worth it. Review: Very good cane. - The double handle helps in rising from a sitting position. The push button system for extending and retracting is much better than the twist system found on some canes, which tends to come loose and collapse. This is by far the best cane I've found. My only criticisms: it should gave a clamp on gizmo at the bottom to switch between the rubber tip that it comes with and a sharp point for walking on ice or mud. I bought one, but it would be a nice built-in feature. Also, the placement of the button for the light on top of the handle leads to its being turned on by accident quite often. Consequently, if you need the light, better buy extra batteries.
