A โbest ofโ collection of creepy tales from Eisner award winner and legendary horror master Junji Ito. This striking collection presents the most remarkable short works of Junji Itoโs career, featuring an adaptation of Rampo Edogawaโs classic horror story โHuman Chairโ and fan favorite โThe Enigma of Amigara Fault.โ With a deluxe presentationโincluding special color pages, and showcasing illustrations from his acclaimed long-form manga No Longer Human โeach chilling tale invites readers to revel in a world of terror. Review: Drawn with care and designed with love - I rarely write reviews, but I'm at a loss for words!, this book is STUNNING!, i was a bit disappointed when i noted that the cover was this kind of paper wrapping the book (high quality and like silicone to the touch) but when i removed it, oh man oh man! not only this paper cover is reversible and it has a different design, but also the hardcover is imprinted with a beautiful design, feels absolutely premium, the colored parts of the book were great and the addition to a couple of fully colored characters from other Junji Ito's works were a nice surprise, i would recommend this book to you even if you never read it and only display it! (it would be a crime, since the stories inside are fun and beautifully drawn, but who am I to judge?). If you like his work, buy it, if you like to display your books, buy it, if you like, body/cosmic horror in general buy it. Review: Horror Master Does It Again - So Junji Ito ... my wife is addicted to his writing and manga ... so when he was at SDCC ... I knew I was in trouble. So we went to his speaking engagement and the man is really brilliant (honestly I had no idea who he was prior to this) ... I felt bad for him because his hands are very badly gnarled because of years of drawing. But no one can take away the horror he inspires with everything he writes and draws. He creates horrors that give nightmares horrors ... the things he writes and draws is amazing and terrifying and beautiful at the same time. The stories are all enthralling and tell tales that will give you nightmares but you will soon realize that even your nightmares pale in comparison to the nightmares he is writing. It's truly awe inspiring to be honest. One day we will lose this horror genre master but for now, I recommend everyone buy his books and be both inspired and terrified.

Great as Usual
Bought this for my kindle and its wonderful. Junji Ito is always a fun readm though these stories aren't too scary/horror focused. Creepy? Yes haha All of these are fun reads, the Amigara Fault is by far the most tense story in this volume. The Human Chair was creepy yes but (spoiler) seeing inside the chair made me laugh. I'm glad Junji Ito was able to make his version of the story since that was perfect haha Also, getting an insight into what Junji Ito liked to read and watch as a kid really explains a lot. It's no wonder his stories have a good chance of either giving me goosebumps or making me laugh out loud or both haha

Worth the hype, and cat approved
I am a fan of Junji Ito's work, and this book is a great addition to my collection. As other have mentioned there are a couple of repeated stories, but I enjoyed going over them again. The opening "Billions alone" is a great surprise, another chilling plot where I can't wait to flip the pages. Junji Ito is a master of using the medium to his favor, and it shows in this book. The book is high quality and includes more colored pages than previous publications. And last added bonus: My cat approves the book for naps! Overal a great purchase

A MUST HAVE, IF YOU ADORE JUNJI ITO HORROR MANGA โก
I am so excited to have seen this arrive at my door today! I pre-ordered it months ago, so it was a pleasant surprise to see it show up, especially as I've been in a mental rut. Junji Ito has always been an odd source of comfort for my anxiety. I suffer with OCD and other mental health related struggles, but somehow...Junji Ito gives me strength and introspection, through the fear and disgust, shown so beautifully in every manga he has put out. I continue to collect every piece I can aquire. This gem is going to make a fine addition, once I finish devouring it, piece by piece. I adored the signature from the author and artist himself. Those surprise full spread artworks, in color? A beautiful additional surprise. This book is an absolute must have, in any self respecting Junji Ito collection. Very well done. Well worth the wait.

This is a welcomed divergence from the quick paced lovecraftian horror the author is known for.
I've been slowly building a collection of Junji Ito's work, so this was a nice addition. The stories were a little more fleshed out than usual and there was something generally different about this selection of his compared to his other books. There was a recurring Gothic theme in a few stories, which I found interesting. But what I loved about this selection the most was the excellent use of suspense. Unlike his other works I've read, this selection often kept me on the edge of my chair. The art is amazing as expected and the cover is captivating. This anthology is a welcomed divergence from the quick paced lovecraftian horror the author is known for. There is also a short autobiographical piece which I thoroughly enjoyed. That piece sheds light on his early inspirations. I get the impression that this selection was more of a nod to the style of storytelling which originally opened him up to the genre of horror/weird fiction.

Standout Collection
Venus in the Blind Spot is a fantastic collection showcasing some of Junji Ito's best short stories. This anthology mixes classic horror with surreal, unsettling tales, offering a great variety of his signature creepy art and disturbing plots. The hardcover edition is beautifully crafted, with full-color pages and striking cover art, making it a must-have for Ito fans. While some stories are stronger than others, the collection as a whole is a great introduction to his work and a treat for longtime fans. If you love horror manga, this is a standout addition to your bookshelf.

Unveiling the Depths of Horror
Junji Ito's manga story collection - Venus in the Blind Spot, delves deep into the unsettling realms of horror, offering a chilling exploration of the human psyche and society's dark corners. Through a series of meticulously crafted short stories, Ito masterfully weaves together themes of existential dread, psychological turmoil, and societal absurdity. One of the standout features of Ito's work is his ability to blur the lines between the grotesque and the mundane, creating a sense of unease that lingers long after the final page is turned. In stories like The Human Chair, which pays homage to Edogawa Rampo's classic tale, Ito crafts narratives that challenge our perceptions of reality and confront us with the unsettling truths hidden beneath the surface of everyday life. Moreover, this book serves as a poignant commentary on the human condition, using horror as a lens through which to examine the complexities of existence. From the grotesque transformations of The Licking Woman to the existential dread of Venus in the Blind Spot itself, Ito's stories resonate with a profound sense of unease, inviting readers to confront their own fears and anxieties.

Short stories
Thought this was a full novel, but it was a compilation of short stories. All worth it and would buy again even if I knew this was a compilation of short stories. Loved every bit of the stories and probably buy everything that comes from Junji Ito
