Andersen Reachout Lock and Receiver Kit (2 Panel) (1986 to Present)

This was the perfect replacement for our Andersen sliding door. After 20 years, the original latch had become stiff and didn’t feel secure. The new latch fit perfectly, was easy to install, and now operates smoothly with a much more secure feel.

This Genuine Andersen sliding door latch was easy to install and seems like an upgrade for our 20-year old sliding door. The door's original Reachout mechanism was jamming and became difficult to lock. With the replacement, Andersen has done a great job of creating a part that fits a wide range of their sliding doors. The included instructions were clear and an on-line Andersen video helped to clarify steps in removing the old parts. The screws holding the original thumb latch were slipping from old age. Stuffing a 1-inch piece of toothpick into the screw hole helped to provide a tight fit. Thank you Andersen!

This worked great for replacing my Anderson sliding glass door lock assembly. I also purchased a new knob on Amazon and replacing all 3 parts literally took 5 min. I used just an electric screw driver and it was simple. Both parts were marked Anderson and lined up perfectly with the existing holes. Anderson's replacement parts site wanted $155 for the I seats and $14 for the knob plus shipping. I got all 3 for $48 and they arrived in 2 days. Recommend!!!

We have a glass sliding Andersen door that is used multiple times each day taking the dog outside to our backyard. This door is now fifteen years old. I have replaced the thumb latch half a dozen times and always have two spares available for this frequently failing part due to twist-stress on the latch metal. I have had to replace the reachout portion of the door lock once during its lifetime and the door frame receiver twice. The door frame receiver fails when the small spot weld of the adjustable receiver eventually fails from constant "pull stress" when the thumb latch engages the reachout arm "hook" to pull the door snug against the receiver. The door frame receiver just went again so I had to order another set of this OEM Andersen replacement part product. Installation was easy and straight-forward. Since these are unfortunately ONLY sold as SETs, I now have two extra reachout door portions of this set that I do not need. I searched both Amazon and the OEM Andersen website and confirmed you can only get either part by ordering this full set. Thus, this product get four stars vs five for forcing me to buy something I don't need in order to get something I do need with no other alternatives :-(

We had an older Anderson reach out lock that had a metal pin instead of the white plastic one on this product. The metal external pin one day magically disappeared, no idea where it went unless the dog ate it. Hope not! The reach out lock had been giving us problems for a few days before. Once the pin was gone the lock would not work. Glad I had just installed the kick plate lock a few weeks before. We got tired of picking the wooden “lock” up and down repeatedly as we have a lab. Anyway, I found a part was actually broken inside the lock which was giving us the problems. This reach out lock worked perfectly! I adjusted the depth of the reach out to not give any play. I didn’t have to replace the lock receiver in the door jam as it was the same. Check your numbers to make sure your getting the correct part. I looked at a few after market lock replacement but after reading the reviews this was the best choice for me. The other locks I would have had to replace the receiver in the door jam which some reviews said it took a few hours to complete. This lock replacement was removing 2 screws, sliding the lock lever out, replacing the lock, reinstall lock lever and the 2 screws. Finally step adjusting the reach out to grab the receiver. Didn’t take long at all!

Perfect!! I am so happy my door is working properly after replacing my old worn out lock. Great product, replacement was easy as this one fit in the existing hole and all the screws lined up as they should.
